My wife and I joined friends here recently at the Haywain. It was super cosy and made you feel at home. We could walk there from up the small road, so location 👍. Place was busy and full of friendly regulars and dogs. We only had drinks, and as stew was on the stove at home. However the menu was... More

Driven past this pub many times and never really thought I must try it. My brother in law suggested going so off we went. A very old and traditional inn, not many of these left nowadays. The food choice was good and very reasonable in price, service was excellent and the food superb. As always the question would I return--YES.

Hadn't been for several years but decided to give it a whirl and so glad we did. It is not often you return to a pub/restaurant after several years and find the same Landlord and Landlady still in place. It was a warm welcome from our lovely waitress and attentive service throughout. There was a great choice of mains, not... More

Popped in for a pint on the way home from Canterbury and saw the menu of pub grub which looked varied and great value. Decided to give it a whirl and was very pleasantly surprised. The fish (wing of skate and cod) was fresh as a daisy and tasted superb. All mains less than £15-00 with a £12-50 2 course... More

If you want to go to a Proper English Pub go to The Haywain. Excellent friendly staff who know how to keep a great pint and produce brilliant meals, loved by the locals and a warm happy atmosphere. There are plenty of plastic pubs around with designer makeovers and menus beyond chef's abilities but The Haywain is the kind of... More

A pub of real character with friendly welcoming staff. My dining companion tells me the beer is superbly maintained a bonus because the landlord is a keen beer drinker! An excellent pub menu (the menu on their web site is a much shortened version) there is a blackboard with a much larger choice. Very efficient friendly service, the food is... More

This is a delightful unpretentious country pub that is always welcoming and friendly. I've eaten there several times and never had a bad meal. My friends and I will certainly be returning. One of our group said it was the best fish and chips he'd ever tasted.
