It was with some trepidation that we returned to the Poacher's Pantry for the first time since its renovations. As I had seen some less than positive reviews recently. The day was perfect and the drive from Canberra well worth the time, PP looking very spruce AND a sealed road all the way to the parking area! We were met... More

I haven't been out to Poachers Pantry for a few years. Before my most recent visit I recall it being a quaint restaurant with good food and service. Things seemed to have changed. The pricing is the equivalent of fine dining at some of the best places in Canberra. I ordered an eye fillet steak and received no request as... More

I am disappointed to write this review. My family and I have visited Poachers Pantry on a number of occasions and always enjoyed ourselves. Our most recent visit was a disappointment and I won't be back. The meals were ok, but not worth the price. The tasting plates were nice but nothing special. The eye fillet was well done when... I came here recently with my wife and father on a lovely Autumn day. The location is magnificent with a wonderful aspect amongst the green lawns and gardens. We sat outside and the ambience was delightful. From the outset the service by staff was professional and good although we did have to look for someone to attend to us when... More

Visited over the Easter weekend, tasting plates were very expensive, and very sparce. Bottle of sparkling white was $46.00 (price not disclosed on the menu), and a $10% public hiloday surcharge was charged without prior warning. We purchased a prepackaged Brie cheese from the smokehouse and that too incurred the public holiday surcharge. I really don't mind paying good money... More

I have mixed feelings about this review.... parts of the Easter brunch were fine...like our server was very friendly and professional -- and was quick to chase after the kitchen when they weren't sending things out in a timely fashion. The charcuterie plate was very tasty -- though served with an awful lot of (fragile) crackers and not much bread.... More

The service was very warm and welcoming upon arrival - despite being very busy. The Pear, sage & hazelnut bread with handmade butter, olive oil & balsamic was lovely. Our mains: Bresola & Eye Filet and the Smoked duck breast, was sensational! However, our desert was very, very disappointing compared to the quality of the main course. We had the... More

Fun cheese and coat meat platters served midweek (which was when we visited). There is also a cellar door attached - the Wily Trout winery - which had some pleasant wine. I enjoyed the Chardonnay.

We attended PP during Canberra wine week and arrived in early afternoon, so probably should have expected the place to be packed. There were simply too many people for the young staff on duty to cope with, hence we received no service at all. Place appears well set up and the walk in cold room had an excellent selection of...
