My wife and my wife accidentally stumbled upon Sonja on Google, and booked a 3 hour cooking class. On arrival, we found Sonia to be an energetic and funny :) she prepared a notebook for us, and instructed what we should write, making sure we miss nothing. Her English is extremely good, and at the end gave us extra recipes... More

Ms. Sonja's school is in a nondescript storefront off the side of a side road. It hides wonderful goodness inside. She is a wickedly funny middle-aged widow who speaks 5 languages fluently and who has a passion for making Thai food the right way, and teaching others how to also do so. She calls it Royal Thai cooking and claims... More

Sonja is a real character with lots of personality. We did her lunch time cooking class and not only learnt to make some delicious Thai dishes with ingredients we can source at home but she also explained the cooking process well and passed on some really great cooking tips. All this interspersed with stories and much laughter. We had a... More

We had a wonderful time at Sonja's kitchen. Even though she is not Thai but she has been living in Koh Samui for more than 25 years, I would say she knows a great deal about Thai cooking and because she speaks English very well she can explain to you on cooking tips that a Thai person cannot do for... I spent a wonderful afternoon with Sonja, cooking and chatting like old friends. What set her class apart from others was that I could chose what I wanted to learn to make rather than be dictated by the day of the week. She also accepts solo bookings, which was perfect for me. She explained each step of the dishes, provided... More

Sonja is european, living in Thailand for many years. This gives 2major advantages: she speaks english perfectly, unlike many Thai chefs and she knows what europeans like. I appreciated it a lot that she adapted the recipes a litlle bit so that we could at least eat it. Real Thai food is so spicy that europeans can barely eat it.... More
