Obviously popular with the locals: we stopped on our way to Poiso as the car park was full. Huge menu and wine list. We only wanted light lunch. Local choireso (various types) grilled, served with olives and garlic bread and my partner had local ham with a salad. A perfect lunch with a bottle of wine. Excellent service - but... More

My family and i came here for lunch, it was a bit hard to find but once we came there the environment was highly impressive. This traditional restaurant is perfect for lunch- a thick menu with fits for all ages and tastes, good prices and a great service. A flaw would be that it is a bit cold inside.

I try to visit every chance i get, i just love the cabrito ( it's like lamb ), it's the only place i can eat it, it's well prepared, the atmosfer is wonderfull, it´s made in na acient house that it was used as a safe house for the shepherds. I admit I love coming here! A rustic restaurant up in the mountain, surrounded by trees. The smell of fresh green and burnt wood from the fireplace is absolutely amazing. The food is great, especially the tomato soup and codfish. Highly recommend

Apparently a much favoured restaurant by the locals. So it is reasonably priced for good food. Wine was excellent, beef very good and fish was a bit disappointing. Probably because I didn't listen careful enough to the waiter. Very good decaf coffee.

Great find this place. Bid old traditional type timber cabin type restaurant with a big open fire for cooking, wine cellar, hunting trophies, and mountain views. A fabulous menu, all typical Portuguese fare with the specialities being the various grilled meats on skewers or in hot pots. Really delicious flavours, very reasonable prices, and generous portions - many are big... More

We have been there a couple fo times with friends who spend a lot of the winter in Madeira and eat there pretty often, usually on Sundays. The menu is varied, with a lot of local specialities not all of which may be to everyone's taste! The first time I tried some sort of stew which seemed to have every... More

Went to Abrigo do Pastor on a coldish rainy sunday. Arriving in the restaurant, theres a lovely smell of a fireplace, its cosy and warm. The food is absolutely homemade simple and honest. I loved it, it was the best cozida portugesa i ate in my 13 years of living in portugal. I would go here more often but its... More
