We have been going to the Mill Bar for a number of years, and have only just got round to writing a review. We were introduced to the Mill Bar and to Julie and Spiros through mutual friends who had been going to Alykanas for...years. During our stay this year, we spent a number of days and evenings at this beautiful location. It is a perfect oasis, in that the pool is wonderful by day, and a great sun trap, a great bar (if you like a challenge - ask about the Rainbow Cocktail Challenge - great fun!). it is just meters from the beach - so you can mix it up between the pool and the sea - which gives the best of both worlds. We had a few breakfasts at the Mill, and whilst I enjoy my Greek food for the most part - at the start of the day, I prefer an English breakfast if I have one at all, and the Mill Bar serve once of the best. In terms of evenings this year, we attended the George Michael tribute. I wouldn't say the chap was at his best, but nevertheless the food was lovely, the atmosphere was good and all in all it was a fabulous evening. We went along to the Greek nigh on Friday - as has been a tradition for the last 10 years (originally with the lads, and more latterly with my lovely partner Liz) - We agreed that this year particularly was the best Greek Night we have ever been to at the Mill, or anywhere else for that matter. The atmosphere was incredible, the troupe/dancers we fab, the food was delicious, the carafes of wine were flowing, everyone participated - and the fire dancing and PLATE SMASHING was better than ever. We usually party on at the Mill after the Greek night has ended - but decided to turn in early this year. On our second to last night we decided to go for a romantic evening meal upstairs at the Mill Bar - again, something of a tradition. It is a very romantic setting with fabulous views and a modest but varied menu. I had the Gambas Pil Pil, which I loved, followed be that evening's special - Lamb Shank - Oh my word! it was the nicest lamb shank i have ever eaten - whatever it had been marinaded in, and whatever was in the sauce was simply delicious. it came on a bed of veggies with rice and roast potatoes. as a bit of a carnivore, I asked for no veg (except potatoes, which don't count - right?) - it came as ordered, and the icing on the cake was that it came on a bed of silky smooth mash as well! Underpinning all these experiences where the ever friendly and accommodating Mill Bar Team led by the lovely Julie, Spiros, Nikos and Pascali. In Summary - the Mill bar is perfect in every way, whatever time of day you wish to experience it - great location, great hospitality and a fab time guaranteed. Don't miss The Mill.More

I had read about The Mill bar on the internet before we left the uk. I loved the fact that it was a family business run by a Greek gentleman and an English lady Spiros and Julie. The romance of it all felt like something...you would read in a novel. We visited last night. The service and staff were amazing. The food was delicious. My husband had two strokes 12 months ago which has affected him in many ways including his mobility When we got up to leave it was apparent that my husbands mobility is impaired. Julie came over and assisted. She even offered us a lift back to our hotel I would just like to say thank you so much for your kindness. This venue has to be visited. What a fantastic night. Booked for ABBA night. Started with a lovely meal in the rooftop restaurant which was so tasty. We then moved to the back bar for the ABBA tribute show which was so good. I booked Greek night before leaving the UK as I had read it was recommended before arriving on the island because it sold out. I had an email back saying my booking for the Friday was confirmed. On the second day of our holiday we...decided to go there in the day and enjoy the pool with a few drinks and some food. It was lovely there, very clean, nice pool and even though drinks were slightly more expensive than other places, we knew we were enjoying the facilities for free so accepted the slightly inflated prices. I spoke to the staff there and the lady who I believe to be Julie who owns it and said we were really looking forward to the Greek night. She asked if I had booked and I said yes. On the Friday night we thought we would treat ourselves to a horse and carriage ride there and we were very excited for it. We arrived to be told we had been sent an email on Thursday(the day before) and had not responded so our booking was not confirmed but they would fit us in. Well fit us in they did, right at the back on a very small table near the pool. The food was served and for some reason we had half a sausage each instead of a whole one, I was told everyone had half which was not true, I had seen everyone else's plates. Anyway the food we did have was lovely, very tasty and very well cooked. The dancers came on and well, they ran the show and it was great, we all danced, watched them fire dancing and we were having good fun but then the night was over. We wondered why there was no plate smashing as promised so I asked only to be told we must have missed it. We did not miss it, it did not happen. I was also, quite gobsmacked to hear the waiter clearing the plates on the next table of a family of four and literally out loud stating to the man you never ate your salad, you never ate your coleslaw, you never ate your tzatziki or pasta and rolling his eyes, all you ate was the meat. I don't think the man who was keeping his daughter entertained at the time heard him which I believe is fortunate because he was damn rude. People can eat what they want without being judged by jumped up waiters. They had paid for what they wanted to eat. As we were leaving, I said to my husband I will do a review on trip advisor and the owner started shouting Excuse me, excuse me as we were walking down towards the beach. We turned round and she pleaded with me not to do a bad review. Julie, this is not a bad review, this is a fair review, The Mill bar is a really nice place with nice quality food. If you want someone to have to confirm their booking the day before then you should inform them of that in your first confirmation email. Even better, if you want paying to secure the booking then why not set up a system whereby people can do this. As I stated to you, I don't open my emails on holiday and why did you not confirm my booking when I was there on the Tuesday and pointed out I was booked in for the Greek night. I would quite happily have paid then. I do not appreciate being told repeatedly "You should be grateful I fitted you in." I have given you a Very Good rating because I believe you are worthy of that for the place and the food and entertainment. If you had a better booking system in place, people got what they wanted, i.e. plate smashing(,lots of people there from Danny's hotel who confirmed they never saw or took part in it either) and you and your staff were not so aggressive, you would have got an Excellent.More

We visited The Mill several times during our visit. We attended their ABBA night and their Greek Night. Both nights provided fantastic entertainment especially the Greek Night, our party had such awesome fun, with Greek dancing, fire-dancing, plate smashing. I hadn’t been here for 17 yrs but it was just as amazing as I remembered, still owned by the same lovely people. The Greek night was absolutely amazing, the food was beautiful, entertainment was brilliant and it was so much fun. Our two daughters...(3 & 7) had the best time dancing, so much so that we have booked to come to alykanas next year but are coming for two weeks Monday to Monday just so we can come to the Greek night twice as we were flying back on Saturday and couldn’t have another late night. We also came to the mill bar for a date night without the children and found out it was ABBA night and fully booked but amazingly Julie managed to squeeze us in. It was brilliant and I just felt guilty that the children were missing out. The cocktails are brilliant, especially the margaritas (nowhere else seems to know how to make them). All of the staff were so friendly and the atmosphere is great.More

We visited the Mill Bar for the ABBA tribute night. It was 20 euros including an excellent 2 course meal. The meal is from a set menu with a choice of about 5 things for each course. It includes a main and a starter or...dessert. The food is of a very high standard. The two girls who do the tribute night are excellent and get everyone up and dancing. Great venue , Julie & her team are lovely people & literally can’t do enough for you . Go for brunch , lunch , dinner or the world famous Greek Night . Top quality place to eat. We had lunch and had the Greek salad and beetroot salad. It was delicious teamed with lovely views, what more can you ask for!
