First impressions ...you may walk by, don't!! We have eaten here many, many rimes over the years and always a warm welcome from Captain and his family! This isn't the usual Greece taverna. The fish is superbly cooked, all fruit and vegetables home grown. Wonderful...More

............... Indeed they can. But on this occasion, sadly not! The ramshackle facade of this 'taverna' simply underpins the woeful mediocrity that lies within!! I have been coming to Koukounaries for a few years now and have always chosen to avoid this place just on...More

This place looks really run down but the host is charming and food excellent and good value. The toilets however leave much to be desired - the essentials are there - just !!

Not the cleanest pretty run down place, an absolute charming host who could tell some interesting tales just do it over a drink rather than a meal.

We didn't follow our instinct on this place and regretted it. A few people on here have said not to judge this place by the exterior but you absolutely should. Our table was lit by a filthy lamp and the shelf next to the table...More

This place looks "Rough and Ready" the only Menus are on a chalk board outside, the choices are "My wife's Starters + Meat or Fish! Starters are the usual Greek Fare, Dalmades Houmus Tzatziki etc, large portions. Meat = Stiffado or Kleftico, Fish either Red...More

Only called in for drinks so can't comment on the food but would definitely return as Michalis is such a funny guy. He desperately wanted to cook us a pizza but sadly we'd already eaten and after that just ran out of days to return.
