The food here is good, but it is a bit "taste-less". But this is about the only place in miles of distance where you can get a decent cup of coffee! I'd also recommend the smoothies, they are an absolute must-try.More

Description
Summeryard is owned and run by Isaac and Araba. Summeryard opened in late 2013 and is still very much in the making, its only early days! Summeryard is a quiet, relaxing and respectful place where you can take some time out under a summerhut or in the hammock and enjoy vegan food and fresh juice. It was founded on a love for Africa; its nature, its offerings, its wisdom and its inspiration. It felt right that the founding of Summeryard’s cafe and accommodation be based on giving thanks to Africa and also, giving back to Africa. Blessed! Summeryard is always growing, evolving and changing, as is nature. At the moment we are operating a vegetarian and vegan cafe/restaurant as well as a coffee, juice and smoothie bar. We can do walk ins or pre orders (which is best for large group orders for over 6 people as we cook everything fresh which requires more time). Our menu changes by season and with what organic produce we have growing in the Yard’s farm. All of our foods and drinks are grown in Ghana. If it cannot be located in Ghana, it is sourced from neighbouring countries before sourcing from the rest of the continent. We strongly believe in the benefits of maintaining the circulation of Ghana’s natural resources within the country and in the vision: “Grow Ghana, buy Ghana and build Ghana in order to transform poverty stricken communities into more sustainable communities rooted in culture and the black identity”. We wish this for the entire continent as Africa is rich in natural resources. So to start somewhere, we want to contribute to integrating more nutritional and local products into local food markets, support local farmers, support healthy eating in the community and support the shift towards more sustainable living. We serve only vegetarian and vegan foods and believe this leaves an environmentally friendly footpath behind what we do. To keep things fresh, environmentally friendly and everyone happy (including our plants), we ask that you do not smoke in the Yard and we thank you for your cooperation. We also try to keep things environmentally friendly by minimising our plastic wastes and composting all of our food wastes, which goes back into our small-scale organic farm. Also, to keep things environmentally friendly, we do not sell bottled or sachet water. We offer water from the town that passes through a water-purifying unit. The water unit is designed in a way that mimics a waterfall. The water runs over glass rocks found in nature within a cylinder or vortex. Because of the water passing over the rocks, the structure of the water molecule is changed, as it does passing over rocks in a waterfall or a stream, purifying, re-energising and adding minerals to the water. The water is safe, nice, soft to drink and it wont upset your stomach! The water is available from all taps in the Yard. We have a sustainable wooden hut guesthouse for those looking for a quiet retreat by the sea which can sleep 6- 8 people so when you stay with us, you will also have access to this water for drinking from your room. Your skin will love it when showering too. You can find out more about our place from our Facebook page: Summeryard Vegetarian Cafe, Ghana and look out for our website coming soon. Medasi! Hope to see you soon!
