Over the last few years we have frequently eaten here. The food is always excellent and there's always plenty of it. This year we have used the delivery service many times to our caravan. Again, fabulous quality and more than enough per portion. Can't praise the staff highly enough.

We popped in here for an ice cream and was a little disappointed to be honest. I was expecting something more than a mr whippy style ice cream considering some if the amazing local produce we'd had recently. However the other people who had ordered menu food seemed happy with their food, so maybe we just ordered badly!

What a delight to find the people that run the strand set up at the Loyal Masonic hall, Brecon road for the Hay festival. My son and I turned up early for our event and were both rewarded with a breakfast that we decided was second to none! Shame more of the festival goers weren't joining us. It may be... More

You will find The Strand at the corner point of Bell Road and Hospital Road in Talgarth. Don’t be put off by the outside as it was once a hardware shop hence the very large front windows. Inside looks like a library for lost books with shelves and shelves of old books. You may be thinking you are in Hay-on-Wye... More

Saw a the books from outside (you can't miss them). Three brunches and a full breakfast. Spot on. Place is really clean, low priced and the breakfast food, while basic is beautifully prepared (they know how long to leave the chips in the fryer). Polite. Efficient and full of books. Very quirky but with a serious attitude to affordable food.

My wife, two girls and I tried The Strand last Saturday after a day's gliding at the nearby club, through pure laziness. We were expecting an average takeaway, just to 'fill a hole' after a busy day. We were quite taken aback when we realised the standard of the food. We opted for indian food from the menu, and everything... More
