We, literally, stumbled on this place, en route between Holyhead and Monmouth, and what a treat! The decor is eclectic, eccentric, in a former Temperance Hall, and the food is not what you might expect. It's so much better. Though it sounds conventional enough - sausage roll, sardines on toast, etc - prepare your tastebuds for a treat. We had the sardines on toast - fat juicy fish dressed with olives, capers, toasted seeds, salad leaves. So good. We didn't have the sausage roll, but we heard the chap at the neighbouring table saying it was the best he'd ever had. He acknowledged that he'd been surprised by the cost, but his reservations had vanished. As had ours. The food may sound average. It isn't average. The cakes looked amazing too. What was lovely, too, was that the owner was training a youngster and explaining what she was doing (preparing our lunch) with such enthusiasm. There were tables and benches just across the road by the river, too.

This is very special little cafe , very colourful. Really lovely staff , warm & welcoming . We only had teas & coffees as we had meal booked elsewhere later . We admired the lovely looking cakes . We sat at a table with our drinks & we were served a plate with 4 'little' slices off lemon cake with 4 little forks complementary such a lovely touch & delicious. We will definitely be back for a meal .

Wonderfully positive experience. Excellent samosas served with mango chutney and salad followed by turmeric ginger cake which is gorgeous. I tried it with a pot of turmeric tea. Dream food on a very cold day. Can't wait for my next visit.

Popped in today for a snack and honestly I was shocked. We ordered a ham and cheese sandwich, a ham and cheese toaster and 2 coffees and it came to £16.75. Although we were shocked my partner said it must be because it’s superb quality food. Unfortunately it wasn’t. My toastie was lovely and hot BUT you could not taste the cheese. It was very mild. My partners sandwich was awful. The slab of cheese on the sandwich was practically a brick and also only had one slice of ham and the bread was very normal and dry. The coffee was delicious. For that price I honestly expected maybe locally produce cheese and ham with much better taste. While waiting for our food I notice the staff bickering and being told to communicate better before taking the food out to people. Atmosphere was very uncomfortable and we will not be going back again.

Delicious- homemade soups, pastries, toasties and cakes, loads of flavour and made fresh. I had Italian sardines on toast with proper fresh grilled sardines on really hearty dark bread. They had some vegan and GF options. Nice relaxed, homely vibe, would come again!

A late lunch - seasonal salad for me with ginger & lemon tea (with honey to sweeten); Ham, cheese and spinach baguette for himself, with coffee. Two slices of cake to take away. Absolutely delicious. Service excellent, quirky environment.

Lovely cafe in the centre of Clun with creative items for sale. Very popular & right by the river. Although the food is quality, I do think seven quid for a cup of tea & a buttered scone is beyond some people's price range. The person at the till said "that's 'just' £7 please" like it was a real bargain 😆

What a welcome, friendly humans serving 5 star homemade food, cheerful interesting eclectic ambience, clean, down to earth cafe that every budget or culinary experience would feel right at home. This owner has got it right. Clun village and surrounds can be explored, but visit the castle ruins and dine here. Dogs catered for, a few outdoor tables, they'll wrap something to take home no problem. We'll done.

A quirky building in a picturesque setting in Clun. Lovely host, very nice cafetière of coffee and a sample of cake. The cafe is situated adjacent to the old, single carriageway stone bridge, not far from the ruins of the castle. We caught them just before they closed up for the day but they made us feel very welcome after a busy bank holiday weekend. We were given a sample of the host’s most unusual signature cake, ginger and turmeric; a lovely colour, the earthiness of the turmeric coming through with chunks of stem ginger - you could almost feel it doing you good!

As a Coeliac I am always very happy when I find a cafe that serves gluten free cake. The chocolate cake was lovely and moist & served with cream. The staff are very friendly and the cafe is in a lovely spot near Clun Castle. We sat outside on a bench near the stream and enjoyed our coffee and cake in the sunshine.

First time visit for late lunch / tea and we really enjoyed it. Lovely spot - next to a pretty river and bridge with seating inside and out. The cafe is full of relaxed, vintage Victoriana tea shop vibes - with a bit of a kooky bohemian twist (including some excellent bossa nova music). The food (chorizo sausage rolls, ham and cheese sandwiches on homemade bread, superb lemon drizzle cake) was great. And the coffee was a taste sensation. What was also nice - was the service. We orderly a bit of a mixed bag of this and that for the 4 of us and it all came out beautifully presented and all the different elements cut into quarters with side salad and condiments on an old school china tea set. Brilliant. Overall another brilliant experience on our trip to Shropshire.

Clun is a delightful little town that some regard as the quietest place in the country. The old packhorse Bridge over the river is idyllic and the location of the cafe in the Old Post office next to it is perfect. However, surely no scones, even with butter and jam and half a strawberry can really be worth £4.50 each. This is not London and the scones were not made by Mary Berry. Come on

What a lovely little cafe to find, lots of things to look at inside. Dog friendly which was nice with water on offer. My partner had smoked salmon on sough dough with lots of other ingredients in it. I had a cheese an mushroom toastie that was gorgeous. We had a pot of fruit tea an then had the most amazing home made cakes to finish. Would highly recommend a visit.

Idyllic setting. Friendly professional service, perfect coffee. Amazing food, great selections of hot food and Home baked cakes.. quirky inside with artistic artefacts / old vinyls to look through - opportunity to buy local artwork. The place you could stay and while away a good couple of hours taking in the atmosphere and scenery but buying lots of food and cake as well to support the Beautiful business.!

I went to the postcard cafe and ordered some cakes, as I waited I browsed all the interesting postcards and artwork they had. I was soon served by a handsome young man with a smile who had presented my food so well that I didn’t want to displace any of it, but once I did I enjoyed it thoroughly. Highly recommend a visit, it’s worth going just to meet that lovely gentleman.
