We really enjoyed our lunch visit at the Maltings Cafe after our scenic walk around Clun whilst on short break in the area. The setting and food were equally wonderful. My partner and I ordered soup and a sandwich which was both hearty and delicious as well as being great value. This is our 3rd visit in the last 6 months and each time our experience has been outstanding!

A charming little cafe in the high street of Clun with a warm welcome & friendly staff. We opted for a breakfast which consisted of a full glass of orange juice, a tea or coffee, toast, butter & marmalade plus the ample cooked breakfast all for just £7.00! Amazing value. If you're visiting the area I would highly recommend a visit.

Great menu, great service and tasty good value food. What more could you want. This cafe comes highly recommended! We had lunch there then walked around the town and the castle before heading back to the cafe for steam puddings.

So shocked by the rudeness and surliness of staff (middle aged male and female) that we walked out without ordering. We were a family party of six. As we approached an empty table we were curtly informed it was reserved (even though there was no card to indicate this). We found another table, only to be snarled at again that this table was reserved from 1.30 p.m. As it was only 12.45 and we only wanted sandwiches, we said we were sure we would be finished by then and sat down. This table was in a dark corner, so I got up to stand under a light in order to read the menu and was told I was blocking the way to the cutlery. I shifted slightly and was told I was now blocking the way to the counter. I returned to my seat, and enquired whether it was table service or should we order at the counter. The waitress did not reply to the question, but simply snapped that she was busy serving another table. It was obvious that we were not welcome and, as we would not have enjoyed food in such a sour and unpleasant atmosphere, we got up and walked out in disgust.

Thankyou for your unrealistic, ridiculous and dare i say it, extremely selfish review. The passage of time is a funny thing, had you written your review shortly after your visit and not some 6 plus weeks after you may have remembered your party wandering around the cafe, asking questions and obstucting the usually smooth running of the cafe. You were made aware of how busy we were and which tables were reserved in a polite manner, maybe rushed but polite. We work on a first come first serve basis and you tried to push your order through, before already waiting customers. I apologise if this system doesn't suit you, but that is our system and it works. There is an A4 sign above the counter stating " TABLE SERVICE". You got up and left because you weren't going to get served immediately, hence the description of you being selfish. Several of the other customers commented on your behaviour after you left and agreed you were out of order.

The coffee is good and the soups, cakes etc are also good, but the reception we got was not, it was 3.30 when we entered cafe, there was nobody else accept a chap doing the cutlery which we presume is the owner, we noticed he did not acknowledge us until my husband said hello. We ordered two coffees which came only 75% full, when my husband asked if he could fill it up he was not at all pleased, he took it away and put a minimal amount in the glass, with a face like thunder. We have been in the café numerous times and have been served by a very friendly waitress, perhaps we where unlucky today?

Fabulous little cafe - we were lucky to get the last table - clearly popular! Range of soups, with filled baguette, reasonably priced and fresh tasting. Quirky tea cosies! Good atmosphere, very welcoming. Dog friendly too! Clun is lovely.

Visited when holidaying in the area. Very friendly staff, excellent service and a fantastic breakfast. I didn't expect orange juice and marmalade included in the price but it is. The breakfast is excellent very nice toast, decent portions of mushrooms, tomato and beans with two very very fresh eggs, bacon and sausages. Highly recommended

We received a warm welcome. We enjoyed a delicious lunch, including a very tasty and well-presented locally sourced wild garlic soup - really beautiful and not at all overpowering. Baked potato was perfectly fluffy and the granary baguettes were warm and perfectly fresh. Fab food and really nice people - couldn'tbemorehelpful. This was our first visit despite visiting the area three times previously and I wish we had found this little gem sooner.

Our second visit to this quaint cafe in the pretty village of Clun. Friendly welcoming staff and amazing food. They offer pheasant soup to bangers & mash from delicious toasties to baked potatoes to macaroni cheese . All cooked to perfection . Great tasty food great portion sizes and at a really affordable price! If you’ve got room you have to try their chocolate brownies. .. see you next time

Passing through we decided to stop and know we have now found our stop over every time we do this journey. We both ordered sandwiches which came on a large plate with side salad and crips. Beautiful fluffy thick brown bread sandwiches with excellent ingredients. Pot of tea topped by a knitted fisherman amused us along with the various tea cosies dotted around. Staff were welcoming and service was excellent. A true gem.

Having popped in on Monday, we had to return and try something else from the menu. The open toasties were excellent (highly recommend the tuna mayo 😁) and the friendly service was second to none. Heading home tomorrow and we're considering the breakfast before we go...

I don't usually write reviews but I was so impressed when I visited the Maltings cafe Clun today and had their breakfast that I felt I had to share my experience. Well I must say that it was the best breakfast I have had out in at least the last couple of decades. Being in the catering industry for over 30 years I am a little bit picky always thinking how things could be done differently and maybe improved but I could not find fault with my visit. The staff were friendly and attentive and the premises were spotlessly clean and in these strange times it was a nice touch for each table to have its own bottle of hand sanitizer and disposable table cloths that were changed after every customer. As for my breakfast it was extremely hot so much so that it was still warm right to the last mouthful which is quite an achievement considering the size of the portion, 2 thick slices of toast and marmalade, 2 rashers of bacon, 2 very tasty sausages, a whole grilled tomato, a large amount of mushrooms, a cup full of beans a nice touch having them separate just incase you didn't want them taking over your plate and 2 golden eggs cooked to perfection. All washed down with a large glass of orange juice, I upgraded my tea/coffee to a steaming mug of hot chocolate which the staff were very happy to do for me it even came with a chocolate on the side. Looking through the menu it was extensive with plenty of things that took my fancy all at very reasonable prices, if my breakfast is anything to go by then I look forward to trying their other dishes. So all in all a very enjoyable visit and will most definitely be returning. Thank you and keep up the excellent work you are asset to Clun and show how things can and should be done.

We were staying at a local cottage and as we had to vacate by 10:00am on our final day, we decided to have breakfast to start us on our journey. We both had the smaller sized meal and it was thoroughly enjoyable. We were served by a delightful young lady and the meal was delivered freshly cooked and a generous portion. It's the ideal way to leave on a final day and get a delicious meal that kept us from getting hungry until we got home.

Whilst visiting area popped in for lunch. It’s a delightful premises, with excellent food very reasonably priced. There was a good choice of homemade soups available, ours tasted delicious. If you order soup it comes with a choice of filled rolls. Well done to the owners, excellent venue.

We stumbled across this delightful cafe when looking for somewhere to shelter from the rain. It was a real treat. We had the delicious soups of the day, two of us had Leek and Potato and two had Stilton and Brocoli, both were served piping hot, which was what we wanted served with delicious hot local bread. We followed this with a cup of tea and the teapot had the best cosy I had ever seen. I won't tell the readers what it was as that would spoil the lovely surprise.
