Very good prices, portions generous, food quality is right up there. Heartfelt service and honest to goodness ambience. Now I can only compare to DTF Singapore since I couldn’t brave queues in Taipei but it is comparable. I say this based on taste (we had...the truffle XLB) and that the skin is durable enough to withstand picking up yet not too thick. I can also compare it to Hangzhou XLB which is around the corner and food wise this is much better. We had disappointing dishes at Hangzhou XLB and the portions were diet portions (so, a mercy).More

This restaurant was a gem hidden away on a side street of the Songshan district, close to the Taipei arena MTR station. Run by former original chefs of the DingTai Fung chain, it offers a small list of goodies but all are done with excellence...and high qualities that in our opinion definitely rivals and excels over that of the DTF chain in many places. It’s oolong tea dumplings is a must try and it’s beef noodles and vegetables are also extremely well done. What’s better is that it’s at a much more reasonable price than DTF and you don’t have to line up for hours to get a seat. It’s become one of our favorites and I’m almost hesitant to promote it lest it becomes as overcrowded as DTF once more words get around.More

Forget dingtaifong, come here for delicious xiaolongbao! They even have mini xiaolongbao which is halv the size as a normal one, perfect for a mouth bite 😊. Granted their version is not as consistent looking as dingtaifong nor is this place aimed for foreign tourists...that don't speak Chinese (but there are pictures! So point on the menu should work), but the food is soo much better. Dumpling is also excellent, but other steamed buns and shaomai are not as good. Don't miss! A bit hard to find for taxi driver, check on google maps. Reservation is a must.More

Great Taiwanese food with reasonable pricing, pork chop egg fried rice & meat dumplings are tasty. Good services provided. Recommend if you’re nearby Taipei Chang Gung Hospital area.

When we go to Taipei, this is our go-to hole-in-the-wall place for dumplings, even over Dintaifung. Sometimes there's still a wait, but well worth it. Prices are comparable with DTF but we just like the simple setting better.

We decided to try this restaurant based on Tripadvisor reviews. We did not feel like standing in line for over an hour at Din Tai Fung, and Jingding ended up being a good option. We were seated immediately upon arrival, and given tea and a...menu where you can indicate the food that you want. Their Xiaolongbao was quite decent and the beef noodle soup quite tasty. We really liked their appetizer dish with cucumber and noodles it was very refreshing and tasty. Staff was friendly and polite. It is a no frills restaurant that seems to be frequented by locals so it is worth stopping by here for a meal if you are in the area.More

I was there for dinner and I thought the food was very good. It was delicious and simple. I think also for Taiwan it was very inexpensive. If anything I would change is that they don't take credit cards.

This is recommended to me by local. Menu is similar to but slightly less than ding tai feng’s. i was told that the chef was trained at ding tai feng’s. i specifically went to ding tai feng before this meal so that i could make...a fair comparison. I must say I prefer ding tai feng’s though the price is bit lower at jingding. However, the xiao lung bao and the noodles are certainly not as good as ding tai feng’s though the pork chop egg fried rice perhaps is slightly better than ding’s. Service was certainly not as good at jingding’s and frankly i was very disappointed with a noodle dish i ordered. The meat had a raw meat taste and we left it untouched. The glutinous rice xiao mai was forgettable. All in all, I would rather pay more to eat at ding tai feng.More

I walked past this restaurant many times and it was always busy, I never ventured in because everything was in Chinese and I wasn't sure how I would be able to order. I should not have been concerned!! My wife and I tried to eat...at a small restaurant nearby but could not get a seat so we tried Jingding Xiaoguan. The people could not have been more helpful and helped us choose dishes which were simply sublime. I hear all the time about Din Tai Fung ---- quite frankly this place would blow them away. I find DTF very clinical and process driven. Jingding Xiaoguan is cosy and welcoming with great service --- always with a smile. The dumplings are wonderful and the rice dishes and vegetables complement them wonderfully. The Pork cutlet is tasty and moist and the Hot & Sour soup matches the best anywhere ----- in fact I have returned a number of times since my initial visit and have not once had a bad meal. It is always busy so I would suggest that you book ahead --- you will not be disappointedMore
