Among food prices in Taiwan, it's probably pretty expensive but average cost per pax is only around $10 USD for person for a cup of coffee and pastry. Afterall, it's located in trendy Ximending. The star here is charcoal coffee. The shop takes pride in...its coffee roast and it's easy to taste why. My father, a hardcore expresso drinker, tried ice-drip coffee for the first time upon my urging. It was a very hot day in Taipei. the ice-drip coffee was brought out with pride. The ice-cubes are made of the coffee's expresso so that the customer can savor the full-bodied ice-drip coffee without having its taste diluted. The sugar syrup is homemade and the cream is fresh. Together with the classy presentation, the order of ice-drip coffee was served like a work of art. I was most impressed by the service. When we wanted to select cake as one of the pastry choices, the waitress brought out a miniature models of all the cakes they have in house that day. Now that's not a sight you see at a cafe everyday. The staff were very attentive to us without being overwhelming. Water was filled without being asked and plates were cleared promptly without interrupting conversation. Even though the cafe was pretty packed for tea-break time on a weekday, no one had to raise their hands through the 2 hrs we were in the cafe. The wait staff were that attentive and unobtrusive. Now that's good service indeed. No doubt, it was costly for Taipei food prices. But I felt that it's worth it. And if I had another lazy afternoon in Taipei, I would choose to spend it there.More
