After arriving 6:00am in Taoyuan Airport on the red-eye flight and dropping our bags off at our hotel, it was time to find our first dining experience. Saving our appetite for the famous Yong Kang Beef Noodles for early lunch, we headed towards Da’an District...and found a very non-descriptive restaurant front with faded store front sign in white background with red and black Chinese characters above a English sign in bright yellow with red letters. As we waited in line for the first seating, we saw taxis, share rides, tourist vans, and cars dropping off folks after folks. Before the store even open the queue was 60 folks long. Ambience: The restaurant was filled with 14 tables with 56 folks packed elbow to elbow. I felt like a sardine. The place really needed a good paint job; the paint on the walls were peeling. The air conditioner was in needed of replacement. Food: My wife choose the Stewed Beef Soup and I chose Dan Dan Noodles. Stewed Beef with Noodle Soup - rich deep concentrated broth. Wow after first sip. Beef was tendered. The noodles were perfectly a denta. The green onions add a zing to the noodle soup. Dan Dan Noodles with Sesame & Peanut Sauce - the sauce was rich with sesame oil and peanut flavor. Again the noodles were a denta. This dish is ideal for vegetarians. Service: The 8 wait staff have limited English. We got in early on first seating, but we were the last table of 14 tables to be serve because our waitress had to repeat our order three times for our table of 8. There are only 9 dishes on the menu (each dish came small or large) We came for the food and we had GOOD NOODLES GOOD SOUP ... at Yong Kang Beef Noodles.More

Generally regarded as another of Taipei's foodie must-try restaurants (it's listed in the Michelin guide), we our way there as many tourists must have done previously. Located only a single subway stop away from the Chiang Kai Shek Memorial, it's not hard to find as...there's usually a queue outside waiting to get in. There certainly was one the day we visited, and it took us about twenty minutes to get in for a late lunch. We were shown to our tables (or rather pointed towards it), and got settled into our stools. The restaurant's certainly fairly basic in decor, so don't epect any frills. We ordered two different versions of the beef noodles - the signature saucy one as well as the soup-based one. The beef used is Australian in origin, and the chunky pieces were tender to the bite. However, I did find the saucy version a little too oily even though I preferred it to the soup-based bowl. We also tried their steamed pork spareribs and steamed pork intestines which, while tasty, probably wouldn't count as one of my favourites. Nevertheless, prices were affordable, and it was worth trying.More

I visited Yongkang Beef Noodle (永康牛肉麵館) in Taipei, Taiwan in mid Feb., 2020. This restaurant had been around for several decades. The seating was very casual and customers often shared tables. The service was average. The menu was simple and clear. I ordered a beef...noodle with beef tendon and beef. It was a bit spicy for me but the flavoring was good and typical. The Steamed Pork Intestine with Rice Flour was disappointing. The rice grain was unusually large and insufficient. The flavoring was below average. This restaurant was overrated.More

No line on a wednesday at noon. I thought it was just ok, thought the broth was a little bland. Maybe I came on a bad day, but i thought it was just ok. Its a little pricey with a small bowl coming at around...$8 usd.More

Slightly on the expensive side Beef was really tender, soup was nice. Sign (In Chinese) noted the flavour of all food items served are on the more flavourful side -- Sound out to the staff taking your orders if you would like customisation. Different groups...of customers sitting at same table. Do check your "receipt" when handed to ensure the staff notes the correct amount. Queuing: Worth it to queue for <10 minutes. Can ask the staff what's the estimated waiting time for your group size. Groups at the back may be fast tracked to fit the seating arrangements.More

I was looking forward to this after reading and hearing the many positive reviews. There was a long queue at 3pm. Luckily, I decided not to join the queue then. I came back at 5pm and there was a much shorter queue. I ordered the...mixed tendon/meat noodles and it looked disappointing. The taste matched the look. I did not finish my noodles. When I left at the peak of dinnertime, there was no more line. Obviously, people have gotten wiser too. I had much better versions at DTF. Heck. The instant version I had the night before was better.More

There are many good options for beef noodles and this is one of them! Don’t miss out on the beef noodles here! Broth and meat are both super yummy and you can finish off with dessert at a shaved ice or bubble tea place around...the corner. Both our boys (10 and 7) loved the noodles. Level of spiciness was just right.More

I had heard so much about Yongkang beef noodle soup. I was really excited to be able to try it finally! We went on a Thursday afternoon at 3:15 and there was a line outside of the restaurant! Wow!! The beef noodle soup did not...disappoint and was worth the wait. We also had the steamed pork ribs with rice. I did not expect the dish to be spicy but it was and it was lovely.More

Better than any beef noodles I've had in the US, but definitely disappointing compared to other places in Taipei (Taoyuan St!!). Broth: hong shao is spicy, rich, but way too heavy on the soy sauce. Kind of boring, and I preferred the clear broth here....Noodles: awfully average and not chewy at all. Beef: the best part! They're quite generous on the beef chunks, even considering the price. Super tender and pull-apart, but kind of ruined by the abundance of tough tendon. I kept thinking about how Taoyuan St's beef just melts in your mouth with no resistance. I think Yong Kang's worth a one-time visit, but nothing more. Locals and family I've talked to all say that there's much better beef noodle soup in Taipei, and usually recommend the shop on Taoyuan Street.More

Standard stuff. Did the pancakes down the road and walk over to join the queue with 15mins before opening. Just did basic spicy beef noodles. It was an enjoyable dish to eat, the noodles perfect and beef was super tender. The reason I gave a...3/5 is I’m hearing too much about the depth of flavour in the broth. Trust me- it didn’t have “that” much. I’d eat it again anyday but no to queuing or going out of my way for it. My tip is- there’s pickled veges on each table. It enhances the meal so scoop some in.More

I was totally impressed by the traditional very tasty beef noodles when i first came to Taipei some 35 years ago. Since then, i had been back to Taipei a few times, but every search for the traditional beef noodles over these years did not...match my expectation. The time, I did spend more effort and asked the cab driver who had been taking me around the whole day in the vicinity of Taipei and he recommended Yong Kang. I was lucky that I got to the place around 20:30 after a whole day trip outside of Taipei, as the place closed around 21:00. The taste which i had treasured so much over the years finally came back. This place is certainly worth the praise that it has been receiving over its 56 years history. Bravo! Way to go Yong Kang!!More

Very plain food. In previous visit to Taipei, there were long queues and we were curious to try the place given the praises. This visit, on an rainy evening, no queue and we were immediately seated. Limited menu. In short, much better noodles and soup...can be gotten elsewhere for less money.More

We only had two bowls (one large and one small) and a steamed pork rib rice, and the price was an eye watering 680TWD! The noodles were also cooked for too long and had a slightly soggy texture The taste was okay but definitely not...worth the 30-40min wait. I would recommend you visit Fu Hong Beef Noodles near Xi Men station instead which is superior in price, taste and doesnt have such a long queue. I would give this place a miss the next time I visit taipei.More
