After arriving 6:00am in Taoyuan Airport on the red-eye flight and dropping our bags off at our hotel, it was time to find our first dining experience. Saving our appetite for the famous Yong Kang Beef Noodles for early lunch, we headed towards Da’an District...and found a very non-descriptive restaurant front with faded store front sign in white background with red and black Chinese characters above a English sign in bright yellow with red letters. As we waited in line for the first seating, we saw taxis, share rides, tourist vans, and cars dropping off folks after folks. Before the store even open the queue was 60 folks long. Ambience: The restaurant was filled with 14 tables with 56 folks packed elbow to elbow. I felt like a sardine. The place really needed a good paint job; the paint on the walls were peeling. The air conditioner was in needed of replacement. Food: My wife choose the Stewed Beef Soup and I chose Dan Dan Noodles. Stewed Beef with Noodle Soup - rich deep concentrated broth. Wow after first sip. Beef was tendered. The noodles were perfectly a denta. The green onions add a zing to the noodle soup. Dan Dan Noodles with Sesame & Peanut Sauce - the sauce was rich with sesame oil and peanut flavor. Again the noodles were a denta. This dish is ideal for vegetarians. Service: The 8 wait staff have limited English. We got in early on first seating, but we were the last table of 14 tables to be serve because our waitress had to repeat our order three times for our table of 8. There are only 9 dishes on the menu (each dish came small or large) We came for the food and we had GOOD NOODLES GOOD SOUP ... at Yong Kang Beef Noodles.More
