Best tonkatsu I've ever had, and at a reasonable price. The place was very warm, and the staff was very nice. Totally recommendes

There are too many reasons to like it. First is this is local people’s visit spot that not too many international visitors here telling the fact of its authenticity. The service is quick & attentive. The fried pork is nice, thick but tender & juicy. The stir fried pork slices with ginger is tasty. The sauces fit salad & pork. The miso soup is unlimited & very delicious. Location is good & isn’t that difficult to find.

Family with tweens went for an early dinner and thoroughly enjoyed it. Ask for English menu if you require. We tried the regular tonkatsu as well as the loin and chicken. All were excellent to us. Loin a little more tender and costly then the regular one. Refills of rice, soup and fresh vegetables at no extra cost. Females get smaller bowls of rice, guess could be a minimise wastage.
Go during off peak else queue extends to the street, restaurant is on second level. Expect to share tables and rub shoulders and elbows.

There's a special place in my heart for tonkatsu, It's been a weekly staple ever since I came to Japan 26 years ago. This restaurant has many of the things I like in a Japanese hole in the wall - rough and ready, no-nonsense service, cramped, busy with normal folk, very reasonable prices and big portions. Like most good tonkatsu places, rice, cabbage and soup refills are free (and the soup has nice big chunks of daikon, just like I like it). But the hire-katsu (a leaner cut of pork with the big fat strip trimmed off) was almost hard. I'm a bit suspicious of how it's cooked, as it comes so quickly after ordering. If I'm paying more, I expect more tenderness and juiciness. Tonchinkan, I want to love you, but...

Fairly easy street location to find in Shinjuku with the entrance hidden up a set of stairs - look out for the white sign with the pig logo (photo attached). Once you locate the restaurant you queue for a couple of minutes in the stairwell and they will take your order while you wait. The Tonkatsu is delicious, all the servings are huge and include rice, miso soup and salad. Its fantastic value.

We found this place by walking pass and so amazed with the quality of the food. Many local people here at this restaurant. Surely one of the best tonkatsu restaurants in Shinjuku!

An affordable place to eat tonkatsu in Shinjuku area, you can find a dish that costs about 1000yen. This place serves the tonkatsu within 5 minutes of your order! Amazing! The tonkatsu is pipping hot as well. But I feel the tonkatsu is on the oily side and there might be better tonkatsu around in Tokyo. However, this is a good place to eat tonkatsu which is lighter on your pocket.

We were hungry after a day of exploring and stopped here since it was right in the train station. They have a nice selection of fancy pork and you can customize the dishes a bit. Surprisingly good for fast, inexpensive train station restaurant.

I’m not someone who usually give only one star rating. But I’ve tried many Tonkotsu in japan. This is one of the worst. The Tonkotsu was soaked in layer of oils and needs lots of chewing. We manage to finish only 10% of what was served to us. NO GO for this one.

Went there twice this trip, once in the morning and another in the evening. The service in the evening seem friendlier.
Tried Rosu on both occasions, better the 2nd time. The sauces were great and I think it paired well with a bit of the yellow mustard. The pork based miso soup with radish is wonderful as always!

Really bad experience with poor food at cheap prices. Service was ok but one guy was extremely rude which was very unlike my Japanese experience. Poor seating and bad production-line like service.

Best Tonkatsu in Tokyo. Super tender meat. It's on the second floor in a small side street. It's worth the time to look for this place. Fast service. You can order while you wait on line.

We would never have ventured to this restaurant if we hadn't read recommendations online since the restaurant is in the second floor up an obscure looking stairway. The place, however, was clearly popular as we had to wait for about 10 minutes before being let in. We were given a menu while waiting and were asked to order right when stepping in. We wanted to try tonkatsu and this is what the restaurant serves with very little anything else. So not recommended for vegetarians. If you wish to have an authentic tonkatsu experience with no frills, this is what you get. The food was okay and the prices were very reasonable.

We saw some nice reviews about the food so we looked for the place. When we arrived we were rushed into ordering and we were made not feel welcome. We shared a table with a stranger, which is usually fun, but in that case it was really cold and not friendly experience. The food was good value and tasted good (although the pork cutlet wasn t cooked too well). The service, well, inexistant and frankly not tourists friendly compared to some other amazing places in the area.
