It was a lovely and efficient environment food came within minutes (traditional Sumo meal) of sitting down and before our last mouthful was consumed the show started. Robert (a Native American fluent in Japanese) MC’d and quickly introduced the order of the night. Asa Zakura and Asa No Hide were soon brought to the stage where with big smiles engaged and joked with the audience. After taking us through 3 rounds audience was invited to take on the sumo wrestlers wearing a sumo costume. A fun, well put together event which included a worth the money.

Very fun evening. The sumos were light hearted. A westerner introduced them and gave a history of sumo in Japan. Some lucky people even got to wrestle them. The food was delicious. There was some confusion checking in and food/drinks seemed to come out sporadically with no real order.

We had a fabulous afternoon at the Sumo show (2 adults and 1 teenager). Had a wonderful meal which is included, received a free goody bag and a very large photo of us with the sumo wrestlers completely free. Very entertaining, informative and a great way to spend some time in Japan!

This is a theatrical show, not real fights, sumo wrestlers are more like actors, because they are constantly making faces and making strange jokes. At the beginning of the show they give food (soup, chicken in batter, edamame beans and sweet roll), after 40 minutes the sumo wrestlers themselves come out and show what appears to be their training, then those who wish can also compete with them. If you have nowhere else to go, you can visit, but generally two hours of time are not worth it.

Came here for sumo experience with a chanko nabe lunch. The experience was brilliant, learning the techniques and able to get opportunities to participate at the end also. The chanko nabe lunch was lovely too it's very nutritious and what the sumo wrestlers have themselves.

Chanko & Wanko Restaurant Asakusa Sumo Club offers a fun and unique dining experience with a sumo wrestling theme. The restaurant specializes in chanko nabe, a hearty hot pot traditionally eaten by sumo wrestlers. The large portions are perfect for sharing, and the flavorful broth and variety of ingredients make for a satisfying meal. The restaurant's decor features sumo wrestling memorabilia, adding to the themed atmosphere. While the food isn't necessarily gourmet, it's a fun and enjoyable experience, especially for those interested in sumo culture. It's a good choice for groups and families looking for a casual and entertaining meal in Asakusa.

Fine if you don’t care too much about getting the full sumo experience but wasn’t not worth the price to me. Food was fine, host was nice, plenty of non-Japanese English speakers to help check you in and seat/serve you. Imagine my surprise though as we were greeted by an older Canadian gentleman in traditional garb as our emcee, an ill timed sound system on the fritz, and fairly tame sumo wrestling demonstrations though I grant that’s most likely due to the small space and safety of guests. I will say those that participated in their chance to “sumo wrestle” with the talent at the end had a good time. It just felt like this is something you’d see in a traveling show in North America but maybe that’s what people want when they’re trying to experience as much as they can during a brief trip to Tokyo?

A fun and experiential evening. We arrived as a couple after I ordered waifu chairs in the front row with a delicious Japanese meal. We were greeted at the entrance by a lovely Filipino girl, helped with a small problem that was immediately solved by them. The evening started with explanations about the sumo fight, continued with a sumo fight between 2 competitors, and ended with a competition by 10 volunteers from the audience against the sumo wrestlers. At the end there was a traditional geisha performance. It cost 20 thousand yen per person and was absolutely worth it!

Great family fun. The wrestlers were entertaining and the kids had a wonderful time. The food was tasty and plentiful (all you can eat). The host speaks English so it was easy to follow. Attendees including kids can also wrestle too.

The highlight for me was the fried chicken—crispy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Each bite was a delight. We also enjoyed the chicken hot pot, which was hearty and delicious, packed with fresh ingredients and rich flavors. The portions were all you can eat, and the presentation was top-notch. One of the most unique aspects of this restaurant is the sumo experience. Not only did we get to watch an exciting sumo match, but I also had the chance to challenge one of the rikishi (sumo wrestlers) to a bout! It was an exhilarating and hilarious experience. I almost won… just kidding, not even close! But the rikishi were incredibly friendly and made the experience fun and memorable. The souvenirs are unique and recommend getting them as they are one of a kind.

Sumo was the high point of my seven day trip. I am so glad we opted to go to this show rather than a real sumo match. I enjoyed hearing the historic information behind the sport of sumo. The announcer was very entertaining and the sumo wrestling were funny. The Geshia opened the show with a beautiful dance. The food was served VERY hot, full of flavor, and was unlimited. If I ever return to Japan, I would definitely do it again.

So entertaining! This was a great way to spend lunch with delicious chicken hot pot broth, a few beers, and the informative and hysterical sumo demonstration. Guy, the emcee, did great work involving the crowd and pitting East vs West. Volunteer to challenge one of the Sumos; you won't regret it!

Roman and Asanoumi put on a brilliant show. Both sumo wrestlers were entertaining, and extremely attentive to the guests. The geisha dance was an added bonus and the food and atmosphere was great. At the end of the show we had an opportunity to take photos and also got to take home souvenirs. Really brilliant experience and a perfect first night to introduce us to Japan!

It was a wonderful experience! My husband, brother-in-law, and I had so much fun! It started off with a dance performance by a geisha. Our host was great in orchestrating the whole show. We learned so much about the history, the warm-ups, and the rules of sumo wrestling. Our sumo wrestlers, Roman and Asanoryu, were very entertaining and so funny! I enjoyed our lunch of edamame, chankonabe, karaage, inari sushi, and cake. My husband ordered more karaage and inari sushi. My husband and brother-in-law got the chance wrestle Asanoryu, which was so fun to watch. I loved that a grandma from Indiana went against Roman. Go grandma! We all left with a picture and a gift bag. Highly recommend!
