We only popped in for a drink, and to look at the menu out of interest. I had a rose wine, which tasted like vinegar and couldn't finish it. The menu was quite fancy, which isn't a bad thing, but some dishes priced just for...More

Over the decades we have eaten and stayed at the Kirkstile many times, always good . Years ago they had a micro brewery and brewed a beer called Melbreak, the success of the brewery was so great that the brewing now takes place in Hawkshead...More

Everywhere has an off day, and perhaps this was it. The beer is amongst the nicest in the area, the setting is second to none. But the food was - well it was only slightly better than horrible. At 13 quid, the fish and chips...More

Found this pub through trip advisor and decided to go for our last meal in the Lake District. We booked ahead but could only get a table in the bar as it was so busy. This didn't bother us. Service was excellent and the food...More

We visit the Kirkstile whenever we come to the Lake District, usually several times. It's worth booking ahead because the food is excellent, the beer is superb (try the Loweswater Gold), and the setting is matchless. Our evening meal this week was spoiled by only...More

After walking to the Lake we were rewarded with the fantastic steak pie round the fireside. Accompanied by a huge plate of delicious vegetables, this was exactly what we needed before continuing our hike. There's a good selection of local ale, too. Recommended is the...More

The food is very good and was delivered quickly. All the food was good, no complaints about it at all. It's good for a special meal out, but not for everyday dining.

Sandwiches should hardly challenge but the nice presentation/garnish and a cople of different own-brews made for a v satisfactory lunch.

Fantastic village pub set within the stunning scenery surrounding Loweswater. Spent several evenings here enjoying the food and ale last summer - highly recommend.

Sorry, I do not know - my visit was only for an evening meal with the Lytham St Annes Choral Society after they had sung at a Carol Service in Cartmel Priory- on our way home to St Annes.
