This is a quaint retreat location 90 miles within the beautiful Denali National Park. Getting there, for us, involved a 12 hour round trip bus adventure with many stops with breathtaking views. LOADS of wildlife was seen. i.e. Black bears, Sows with cubs, Caribou, Dall sheep, various birds, and moose. Although the weather wasn't cooperating, we thoroughly enjoyed our driver/guide... More

The food was good, home cooked type. Loved the chili and the cinnamon rolls are to die for! They were so big 4 of our split one! It's very unusually decorated, lots to look at.

We stayed at Denali River Cabins, and ate at the Roadhouse the first night due to convenience. We paid $12 for a bowl of Seafood soup that didn't have any seafood taste. Fish & Chips and other foods we ordered were lower than fast food quality. Don't go there. There is another restaurant within 2 min walk.

The most overpriced food I have ever experienced - which, if it tasted good, would have been ok, but it didn't. My daughter and I each had the $5 "half-order" of pancakes which consisted of a single, flat, flavorless 6" pancake. My husband ordered the $7 "half-order" of french toast and received two slices of flavorless, thin white bread. (My... More

We decided the first night we didn't want to spend $10 just to get into town to have a quick dinner (we didn't have a car), so we went to the restaurant of the property next door (McKinley?). This is run my Armark, so it felt a bit more "institutional" than a mom and pop. Prices were a bit high,... More

The Roadhouse located on the property of the Denali River Cabins (that isn’t even on the river). We stayed @ the Lodge that was right on the river across the road (which was a great place to stay). The food was far below any on the road meal that we had anywhere else in AK. My husband’s meal was the... More

We stayed at the lodge where the Roadhouse was located and decided to have the breakfast buffet before going into Denali National Park. We were greatly disappointed by the buffet. We were charged for a full buffet, but the restaurant was out of eggs and meat. From another family that had dinner the previous night, we learned that they did... More

The Roadhouse is a restaurant located on the property of the Denali River Cabins. Bulgarian students serve food there during the summer when I ate there. The food is somewhat pricey, but prices are very high in Alaska compared with those in the Lower 48 States. Don’t come to Alaska looking for bargains! I order the chicken parmesan, which was... The tour guide said they had the best burgers.... so I tried one. YES, it was wonderful. Just what I needed. It is a nice restaurant onsite and opens at 5am for those taking tours early in the morning.
