Found this little Jem of a place for breakfast but it caters for more. Proper little walkers bikers hikers spit and sawdust cafe.. the food is superb, freshly cooked with local farm sourced food. Very well priced drinks and menu.. on my list to return 10 put of 10.

Well, I said we'd be back and we were. Quick stop for a bacon and egg bap. The quality and flavour of the meat, the fresh egg and size of the bag it is served on make this worth every penny. Off along the Monsal trail to walk it off before returning for a cake and tea later.

We had a great 30th birthday meal for my son with our extended family at the Old Smithy in Monyash. They opened especially for us in the evening. The food was excellent as was the service and we all had a very enjoyable evening. Many thanks.

We have visited previously for drinks and ice creams. The breakfast is top notch. Everything cooked fresh to order and high quality ingredients. Highly recommend!

We called at the Old Smithy whilst having a car ride around the area on a beautifully sunny but frosty New Years Bank Holiday. We ve eaten here before and enjoyed it very much. Today we had the Smithy Breakfast, a good, hearty , quality breakfast, followed by warm apple cake with ice cream, very nice. A welcoming, cosy tea... More

Great hospitality having rolled up on my bike without appropriate funds ( money/card). Had a super hot chocolate. No questions asked regarding my origins other than 'local'. Asked to pay when passing which I did when could. Nice to be so trusting. Lovely atmosphere. Great hot choc. Into bargain - stumbled across old school friend!! Hi Jo, how you doing?... More

If you want a great tea room where you can grab a bacon and egg bap and a mug of tea with a great atmosphere and when cold a roaring fire, then you be crazy not to drive over and get stuck in. I discovered this place about 20 years ago and I still find my way over there. Not... More

We always stop here when the opportunity arises. Some reviews say the food is a little overpriced, personally I feel the price reflects the quality and quantity of food. You can taste the difference between local sourced food and bog standard sausage and bacon. Staff have always been friendly and helpful. After our breakfast we did a nine mile walk... More

I stopped here to get through the last hour of a 120 mile bike ride. Big, strong mug of tea and a slab of delicious carrot cake got me flying to the end! Right on the x-roads, can't miss it, what a gem!

We visit Derbyshire three times a year and our highlight of the week is a big breakfast each at The Smithy. It's great our dog is allowed to take us inside if we are well behaved ;-) The staff are always very friendly and the breakfasts very tasty and plentiful.
