visited the restaurant on recommendation of a local to have the $80 seafood platter firstly the site is really quite nice, and well decorated and a place i would typically enjoy, the staff were lovely and extremely approachable however, for whatever reason we ended up waiting 1hr 45 minutes for our platter, i am assuming it was a bad night... Staying in Muri, we needed our own transport to get here as it is at the opposite end of the island. Food was good, and they were able to change the type of potatoes at my request.

Really enjoyed our seafood platter, NZ$80 for 2 people. Heaps of food, very fresh and the staff were absolutely charming. We visited at night having called in at lunchtime to make a reservation. No-one there but a blackboard outside to write your own booking. Great idea! We specially enjoyed the fairy lights, cute outdoor area and quirky interior décor.

Seafood platter for two was much-touted, but disappointing. Friendly, lovely cocktails. Food good, but not great.

Try get a visit here if you are on holiday, come here for a nice meal. The place is decorated with fairy lights, posters and Cook Island flair. It is a seafood restaurant and even though the menu is small it makes it easier to decide what to get! There is a garden area that will require a booking but... More

We had the Seafood platter which is $80 and is plenty for 2 people and you don't need an entree. There was so much seafood and a great variety. We like it so much we went there twice. If you can book a table in the garden as its nicer on a warm evening and they supply insect repellent!

My sister recommended this place and it was a really lovely evening in the garden. The seafood platter for 2 was so huge that we could not eat all the food.

Very cheeky staff. With a straight face - "toilet? We don't have a toilet. You could try the bushes out front." Lovely food. They supply insect repellent.

Description
A great quirky casual dining experience. Opened since 1979 it still has the same owners and the same name. It is a mix of eclectic and local island decor. The walls feature an array of photos of events, people and things. The ceilings are a collage of various types of posters etc. The Tumunu Garden Restaurant also features the "largest little notebook" on the island. Come visit us! A fun place for children too with a garden and "dancing laser fire flys"
