The place looked redecorated, we were made to feel very welcome and enjoyed a good meal with drinks from a bistro type menu.

Having spent the morning hiking we were ready for a proper pub lunch and that's exactly what we got! There are plenty of places to eat in Pooley Bridge and we had actually entered another pub on the High Street but, with a Toddler in...More

After a long trek through the fells, a good place to stop for sustenance, especially the Jennings Ale selection. They serve from midday and the food is good fare and generous. Friendly staff and you can take your children into the big garden to play...More

A bit disappointed with the service and selection of lagers. Most of them out of stock. Know better places in the Lakes

Believe this review is about a different establishment as we carry 3 lagers Peroni, Estrella Damm and Carling non of which we have ever run out in the 7 yrs in our hands as owners.

Went on a Wednesday evening for dinner based on previous trip advisor ratings. The pub was very quiet with one barman serving someone. No meet and greet arrangement. We found a table in the carpeted bar and then had a short wait at the bar...More

Description
The Inn was converted from a row of cottages in the 1700s by the original proprietor Edward Richardson. Since then the Inn has changed hands several times, and was taken over in May 2010 by John & Jane McGuire. The Sun is a family run establishment. Sunny by name and by nature, this is one of the most friendly and cheery hostelries in the region. It is a sizeable whitewashed building with grey framed windows, which in summer are draped with vibrantly coloured hanging baskets. Inside, the decor is simple and warm with low beamed ceilings, wooden tables and chairs and wood paneled walls and bar. It has a spacious beer garden and a grassy area at the rear with a fantastic wooden childrens play fort. It also has its own car park, which is strictly for patrons. The Sun Inn is renowned for its Real Ales and has been awarded the Cask Marque and features in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide. We offer a wide range of local ales and a constantly changing guest ale and for the non ale drinker there are lagers and stouts.
