Spacious, well furnished room, in a pub with good beer and excellent food, especially the steaks. Friendly and attentive hosts, breakfasts are delicious and freshly cooked with a great choice of foods. Overall, excellent value for money, and a great place to stay.

Excellent food, including the best fish pie we have ever tasted. A varied choice of dishes, including vegetarian, all home cooked and reasonably priced. Generous portions. A very friendly welcome and a lovely old-world atmosphere. Beer is very well kept and the Bwtty Bach is the best we've tasted. We keep going back (from Bristol) and will continue to do... More

We visited the Wye Valley twice in 2016, and because of the excellent food and service at this pub dined here several times on both visits. Very warm and relaxed welcome. A good choice of menu, and large delicious meals served promptly. We will return again when we visit the Usk Valley April 2017.

Went here on spec with a walking group, three muddy dogs and ten muddy walkers. Unsure before we went about dogs and muddy us but sign outside says muddy dogs and walkers welcomed which we found to be true. Just what the group needed good quality and varied pub grub and good, well kept real ales at reasonable prices.

The sizzling steaks here are just that, copious, full of flavour and tender. We were the only table eating at the time and I asked for stilton cooked on top of my steak, which I got. All cooked to perfection, on time and hot. I would recommend!

We called into the Rose and Crown after a morning's sightseeing in Tintern. First impressions were so-so and we wondered if this was a pub for locals rather than visitors, however those impressions were quickly dispelled and the barman was very accommodating to us and our little one. We ate ham, egg and chips, a jacket potato and the lamb... More

Popped in for a quick drink whilst staying at the Wye Valley Hotel . Very friendly pub. A Halloween trail was taking place on the day we visited and several of the staff were dressed up to meet the local children. Very clean toilets too .. nice to see.. plus the food that we saw coming out looked good and... More

Spent a couple of days close to Tintern. We decided to eat here for the first night. We planned to go somewhere else on the second night but decided to eat here again! The food was well priced and tasted good, the beer was not expensive but most importantly we were made to feel very welcome.

We enjoyed a really good meal with efficient, friendly service. The steak was brilliant and I enjoyed a VERY good burger. I'd definitely go back.

We had a wonderful stay at the Rose & Crown,,Sally & Jason were fantastic hosts and we loved the 'local' atmosphere of the pub,it was definitely the most laid back boozer in Tintern which was great for us.... Food was great,,especially the steaks, which were cooked to perfection. Full English Breakfast was immense,,we couldn't believe how huge it was,but we did... More

Welcome to The Rose and Crown (Tintern Steakhouse) a small country pub on the banks of the River Wye. The Pub has open log fires and a warm friendly atmosphere dealing predominantly in locally sourced steaks as well as a bar menu. We took over the property in January 2012 and after extensive cleaning and interior work doubled the Enviromental Health Organization food and hygiene rating from a 2 star to a 4 star which is second only to the Wye Valley Hotel which has a 5 star rating and we are endeavouring to achieve this rating in the very near future incidentally we are the only restuarants to display the ratings as all the others in tintern rate 3 and below.
