Visiting the Vintage Tea House was on our 'must do' list on our recent trip to Antigua and we are glad we visited! We hired a car so made our own way there and it is well signposted so no trouble finding it. There is a lot of food choices and it was tricky to decide what to eat as it all sounded wonderful but we had the sausage roll with a beautiful salad and then had the chocolate brownie and gingerbread cake (with rum sauce). All delicious and washed down with plenty of tea! The setting is beautiful with a lovely breeze and the tea room itself is so cute and is everything spotlessly clean. The only thing I would say is allow plenty of time for your visit as although we got there soon after it opened it was busy and there was quite a long wait to be served. This is completely understandable and not a criticism but worth knowing if you are on a set schedule.

We visited the tea room after spending the morning trekking in the rainforest and visiting the nearby art gallery. We were ready for a good sit down and what a relaxing, beautiful location we discovered. The location and views are stunning and the food absolutely delicious. We enjoyed a beautifully presented cream tea, with both tea and bubbly! Lovely vintage china and glassware! The open sandwiches were very tasty and the scones and Victoria sponge cake were as light as a feather. We enjoyed the homemade jams too! The gardens and orchid room make the setting very elegant and the panoramic view from the old sugar mill is spectacular. Although service wasn’t the fastest, our order was prepared freshly for us and the wait enabled us to relax and also to freshen up using their very pleasant facilities. We highly recommend you visit- but be aware they only open four days a week, we booked to ensure we got a table!

Thank you so much for taking the time to post a review and we are delighted you enjoyed. Our kitchen is only small and we do prepare everything fresh, so happy to hear that the short wait was enjoyed - just what we hoped. Our cakes and scones are baked in house with lots of love, so will make sure our cook knows you enjoyed. Thank you for coming and hope to see you again

I do mean "different" in a good way. This not your typical Antiguan food & drink stop.
The owner has blended tradition and the tropics, which is not always easy.
In other words, it's a real respite from the beach scenes, with a genteel and calming atmosphere. How can one go wrong when the breezes are gently blowing, and the food and drink are very nice?
I had intended to just stop in for tea and a cake, but I'm always a pushover for ploughman's lunch so ended up ordering that instead. Her rendition once again blends the tropical with the traditional with the addition of fruit, and salad with local veg. I found the addtion of crisps to be a bit odd, but that's a small complaint about an otherwise very nice plate.
Because I was alone I did not want to take up a 4-set table, and must admit that the chair at the table on the rail was perhaps one of the most uncomfortable chairs in which I have ever sat! But again, this is a small thing in the bigger picture (and was not a factor at larger tables).
I will definitely be returning for the sweets. A ginger cake looked fabulous, and there was on offer something with pineapple and rum. The tea blend I had was fabulous.
Overall I definitely recommend this place , both for food and a truly nice atmosphere.

Our favourite place for a relaxing late lunch in Antigua (lived here over 2 years). Been here at least 10 times. Food is moderately priced and the service is friendly - and very slow. Expect 1.5 hours minimum for lunch. But the location, on the top of a hill beside a sugar mill and flower gardens is relaxing and there is always a pleasant breeze. Washrooms are very clean with personal cloth hand towels to dry your hands.

Popped into here for lunch after a walk / visit to art shop nearby. Traditional English menu including ploughmans, cakes etc. Lovely setting and good service. Was a little expensive we thought - 6 of us for light lunch + cake came to ÂŁ180 - only reason for a 4* not 5* review

Thank you for visiting and we are glad you enjoyed your visit.
Regarding prices, sadly we don't have the level of wholesale outlets with the kind of prices there are in England and, as most items are imported, our prices reflect the costs we have to pay, which is approximately 3 - 4 times the price in the UK. We do our best and hope to see you again.

We had a lovely experience at the Vintage Tea House. It is set on an old sugar mill and the surroundings are beautiful and well maintained. After having a wander up to the top of the mill we had some tea, cake and bread and butter pudding which was all delicious. There was lots of lovely touches and we found the place charming. The service was also great. Will definitely return on our next trip!

We stopped by the tea house having dropped some of our party at the Antigua Rainforest Canopy Zipline experience on Fig Tree Drive.
The location is stunning with amazing views across the island.
The staff at the tea house were friendly and helpful offering suggestions and information.
The food was great with particular recommendations for the ginger cake with rum sauce and the bacon roll! Lovely

We visited this lunch/tea room on the recommendation of other guests. Only opened in December, this lovely place is set above the Mount Tabor Retreat and is a real find.
We chose a ham ploughman's for lunch and couldn't resist their delicious homemade cakes and selection of teas. All ingredients are sourced locally where possible (including the ham) and the mango chutney was possibly the best I have tasted. The sorrel cake was beautifully moist ( but hibiscus fruit and not to be confused with the English herb)
The location is great being on Fig Tree Drive and has excellent views from the beautifully restored Cane Mill.
Great service and as a new business delivering Caribbean/English fusion ,deserves to do well.

Lovely and worth the drive up Fig Tree! Was here with my wife who loves a good tea.
Plenty of parking, no issues. Having the stairs from the bottom of the parking to the top was really helpful.
The eating area is covered and has expansive beautiful views of Antigua. I believe the grounds are owned by the Roman Catholic church(?).
Service was perfect. Our server took time to answer several questions, and make suggestions. Food was great, well balanced. Had room for a sweet at the end, they have several options.
Highly recommend.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed review. It is so nice to hear feedback and to read our customers thoughts. I will let the team know how much you appreciated their hardworking.
You are correct the grounds are owned by the Roman Catholic Church, as well as the Mount Tabor Retreat, the renovated mill and the orchid house. The Bishop takes great pride in ensuring that everything looks as well maintained as possible. We are totally separate and very fortunate to rent the venue from them
Thank you again

Oh wow, what a place. Fancy having afternoon tea in a rainforest? This is it! Real tea with superb cakes - the Victoria sponge was to die for! Had lunch here, too! Very good food, lovely setting with a (partly) restored windmill, giving panoramic views over the local area. Highly recommended!
NB - a warning if you’re driving a car with low clearance, especially at the front of the car. Turning in from the road is fine, but there is a concrete drainage ditch as you go into the drive: when you leave, it will destroy the lower front panel. They should put a piece of wood across it to make it possible to leave without damaging the car.

Hi Philm13, I wanted to let you know that our landlord has redone the entrance way and driveway!! We are so delighted to have a lovely smooth entrance/exit now - thank you for your patience
Here is our original reply - we had to delete and re-do:
Thank you for your review and feedback, we have passed on to the Retreat regarding the drive way and will see what can be done.
Glad you enjoyed your food and the views

We visited after driving past the previous week when it was shut then investigating on Facebook. The setting is beautiful on the grounds where there is an old sugar mill building and views to the sea. The decked terrace is beautifully decorated and tables are set up with small vases of flowers. We had decided to skip breakfast in our hotel and we are so glad we did. The food was amazing. I had an islanders lunch and my husband sourdough with poached eggs. Had tea and coffee out of china cups and the tastiest pasionfruit juice I have ever had. There were so many things I would like to have eaten but decided on a freshly made madeline for afters. Again beautiful and the cake maker has a great talent! Lovely friendly staff and would definitely recommend a visit.

I doubt you’d find a finer place for a brew on the island.
A hill top setting and a sizeable assortment of teas including a Christmas Black Tea. Proper bone china tea cups and saucers. And inflatable baubles. It’s been too long since I’ve had a brew in an inflatable bauble adorned setting. Too long by far. It reminds me of happier days.
Anyway.
There’s also a tower you can go up. And ice cream. (You can only eat the ice cream. You can’t go up it. You can go up the tower. I hope that’s clear now.)
All the teas are vegetarian.

It was raining…again, we were sitting on our deck at our villa and I remembered hearing of this place and told hubby we should take a drive for something to do. He wasn’t too keen about going to a tea house!
We arrived and it was the most charming little place where love and care goes into each creation!
Hubby loved it!! Plus they had rum with homemade ginger beer! He was happy to be able to order beans on toast.
The view was spectacular.
And as an added bonus the sun came out and we were able to walk the grounds.
The only fault is the entrance by the road is absolutely terrible needs some serious patch work.

What a delightful stop as we toured around Antigua. Lovely shaded spot with great views. Staff are very pleasant and helpful/ accommodating. As a person who enjoys tea I found a wide variety of delicious choices, while hubby could enjoy a brew. We didn’t expect a big meal and were satisfied with all we sampled. The bathrooms are the cutest: pristine, bright and beautifully decorated. Tucked back from the main road a 100 meters, there’s a sign by the entrance. I’m glad we didn’t miss it.

Dropped by for lunch after visiting English Harbour. Located high up in the hills on Figtree Drive , it is breezy with lovely views and the tea house is charming. Had a bacon roll and homemade scones with fresh cream and jam. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommended!!

Thank you for taking the time to write us a review and delighted you enjoyed. Our bacon comes from a local farm who raise their pigs without the use of growth hormones or antibiotics. Our scones are made with love in our little kitchen and our jam is locally made on the island. We hope you will come back again soon.
