Good coffee only about $1. Great pasties too they roast their own so get some and bring home. Good place to start the morning and see the scene or end the day with a cold coffee!

If you are lucky enough to visit La Habana. I could not recommend Cafe El Escorial more highly. This is without doubt, the best espresso I have ever enjoyed. Great atmosphere and friendly service. If you want to buy coffee beans, better be there early...More
The covered verandah on Plaza Vieja is a great place to sit and enjoy a lovely cup of coffee, and even a delicious ham and cheese sandwich, whilst people watching on the square. It is very busy, so you have to pounce on a table...More

Of the four of us, I was the only non-coffee drinker. They each had espressos and loved them. The service was excellent and view unbeatable.
Slower service than other places on the square. The food was comparable to other cafe's on the plaza and we has the ham and cheese sandwiches which was good.
We just had coffee and cakes here, so can't comment on the meals but it's a nice place to take a break from walking around Havana when the heat gets to you. Coffee was delicious.
We went for breakfast. Lots of interesting choices for coffee. Service was not the best. She got our order wrong and blamed me, but it happens in Havana. Part of the experience.
