I recently visited Punta Cana. Our Republic quickly became my favourite spot to get affordle food and drinks. The staff was friendly (special shoutout to Dave) and the atmosphere was chill. I also enjoyed the live music on Sunday, January 15th, 2023. I would definitely...visit again, whenever I am in Punta Cana. Thank you for adding to the amazing memory of my trip.More
I went because reviews seemed favorable, and it was close to my hotel. got a plate of conch with some vegetables for around 25 USD, which was not even good. with a beer I rounded up to 30. I put to 20$ bills on the...plate. When they didn't come back with change, I asked, why. They said it was only 30. Wouldn't go there againMore
Our group of 8 went for dinner and had a great time. The staff was so fun and the atmosphere wonderful. The food was very good. Would go there again in a second
We went here on NYE for one drink. When we went to ring up our drinks the card reader supposedly broke. The employee continued to supposedly struggle with it for nearly a half hour. I understand things happen, but I’ve never been to an establishment...that will literally hold you there for a half an hour cause their error. I’m also not sure if it was legitimately broken or the employee was trying to make us give him cash. The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth. I wouldn’t come here again.More
We had several nights in Our Republic. The craic was 90 (Irish for fun) on Calle Aruba. Christian, Christopher, Perdom, Renée and the rest of crew were good fun. The best was Onyx and Jasper, the gorgeous dogs. Let them run free was our motto...and the dogs loved it. Drinks, food and live music on some nights. Worth a visit 👍.More
We haven't eaten here, as vegetarians (mostly fish/ meat based menu). However, we have been in a few times for drinks. Good fun and staff are very friendly. We really enjoyed drinking with them after hours. Such good people. The two alsatian dogs are absolutely...gorgeous and we have been lucky enough to take them a walk. The bar also shows football. We will be back!More
I hesitated to post, given that no one else has been inspired to do so in the past 13 months. I can only hope this means that the dining public has written this place off. Tonight’s experience was almost too awful for words. But I’ll...give it a go. Red flags came out early. A cocktail was served containing no alcohol. Beer was served slightly chilled. Both situations were corrected promptly, but I wish we had paid attention to the signs. Calamari appetizer was neither hot nor fresh. Fish sticks, on the other hand, were crispy, fresh & flavorful. Spaghetti with marina sauce was a bowl of pasta swimming in a sauce that most closely resembled canned tomato soup. Churrasco steak consisted of a 5-bite portion, but was edible. The coup de grâce entrée was chicken cordon bleu—4 slices from a dry roll of chicken breast (ham-cheese were barely noticeable) covered in the same tomato-soup sauce as the pasta. A side of platanos maduros was like nothing I’ve ever seen—& this is a very simple dish to prepare. Several hefty slices of plantain had been fried dry (no evidence of butter) into desiccated slabs of starch, with not a hint of sweetness. In a word—inedible. At meal’s end the server clearly saw our nearly-full plates, but made no comment. So we made sure to express our complaints. While venting didn’t make us feel any better, I only hope the server gave the “chef” an earful. What was most perplexing about all this is that 3 of our party had enjoyed great meals here just 2 weeks ago. Tonight’s experience didn’t even seem like the same place. The 4.5k peso bill was as hard to swallow as the food. On the plus side, after 3 weeks in Bávaro & 10-12 restaurant meals, this was the only disaster to date. So that’s something. Our Republic is surrounded by many other dining options. (I can recommend Kat’s, Venezia, Sushi Box, Citrus, Bella Napoli, La Bruja) Pick any of those and avoid buyer’s remorse at Our Republic.More
My husband and I enjoyed the fish and chips we had for dinner so when we were looking for a pace to meet friends for lunch, we suggested this restaurant. Big mistake. My club sandwich was passable, one of our friends had shrimp and rice...and said it was ok but not great. Our other friend had a steak sandwich and the steak was tougher than jerky. My husband had a hamburger and the meat was burned to a crisp. When we complained, the waiter just shrugged and took our plates. He could not have cared less. That evening we told some people who live here. They said they have never had any issues but added that the owner is away for 2 weeks and they are sure this would never have happened had he been present. So I advise against trying this restaurant unless you know the owner is there. I gave 3 stars...5 for the fish and chips, 1 for our lunchMore
My family and I recently dined at Our Republic. It is one of our favorite restaurants in Bavaro. The food is very good. I had the Conch (Lambi). This restaurant is the only one in the area that serves this dish. It was excellent. It...was prepared creole style with a side of rice. My wife got the spaghetti and it was fantastic. They have excellent mojitos as well. And they put the Pittsburgh Pirates game on for us (on every TV!) which was an added bonus. Don’t hesitate to try this place out. You won’t be disappointed!!More
This place is a local sports bar like no others. A home away from home at very good prices. Giant screen and 3 tv to watch sport events in a friendly environment. Come meet locals, travelers, have a cold beer and watch games and life...pass by. Safe for women, children families and no rip off. CheersMore
Yesterday I took my mom to this restaurant that's super close to the place where I'm staying and we had dinner. Everything was perfectly fine, the place was crowded, but surprisingly tonight when we were getting back of an excursion, the waiter who was in...charge yesterday yelled me on the street telling that he was going to call the police if I wouldn't exchange the fake 100 dollars bill that paid him yesterday... It was so embarrassing, because everyone was looking at us, he was so impolite, accusing us of something that I sure I hadn't done so I told him to stop yelling and be polite. First of all when he showed the 100 bill, that he told was mine, after 24h I paid him, the bill was totally different from the others that I've got at exchange, but he kept yelling, threatening me to call the police. Than when I told him to call the cops, he threatened me, telling it's his country and I would regret it. I've got a really bad impression of this pace and its service. If you could avoid it, it would be better or pay with card, don't use cash... So you don't have to go through the same experience as me!More
The food here is very good. It is fresh Mahi Mahi and other items. Local Dominican restaurant and bar with very friendly service. Thank you Rafa
This is a fun place with staff who care about you. It had great fish on the menu. Its not the nicest interior but we are in the Caribbean. We actually visited a few times. Great cold beer and good service. Thank you
This is one of favorite places to eat and drink in Los Corales. The staff are hard workers and get the food out hot and prepared to perfection. Our table ordered steak, chicken cordon bleu, and spaghetti. All dishes were great. Also, the 🍓 margaritas were...awesome. The menu has lots of choices to please everyone. Prices are very reasonable.More
