There's a reason this area is deserted, restaurants are empty, and shops shuttered. It isn't COVID or even service in the entertainment industry there which is fine. I have been considering purchasing in the Cap Cana area and own two properties in Punta Cana. I...brought friends to see the sites and the backward processes, terrible terrible customer service experience set me against it. The ignorance of the security guards was the first barrier. Actually speaking with the guard station "Concierge" was unforgettable. She was rude, condescending, and had absolutely no idea of how customer service should be conducted. I needed to make a restaurant reservation she informed me. She needed to "register" every individual entering the grounds and copy their ID. When I called to actually make the reservation at la Palapa (she would not call) it's a main line - hotel reservation or restaurant? Restaurant. "I'll transfer you to restaurant reservations." That receptionist transfers me to the actual restaurant of la Palapa. You need a Dominican phone number and WhatsApp to receive the pass. It never came. I call back. Three transfers and the restaurant now isn't picking up. 30 minutes later, I'm fuming. I explain to the Concierge here that I had actually been considering purchasing here but not after this horrible experience and that I would never put my guests through this experience and I will be buying my house in Punta Cana instead. "Do whatever you want." She Gloated. Yes, Gloated. It was a disgusting experience and sets the tone for the empty streets, abandoned shops, and empty restaurants.More

We went to this restaurant quite a lot during our 5 days stay. It has a good and varied menu so there is enough to choose something different each time. I had sushi and similar for lunch with a nice local beer. We had grilled...lobster for dinner, with a shrimp cocktail as a starter. Good pasta dishes. Everything we had we enjoyed. Adding to the enjoyment is sitting by the water as the waves go past breaking on the nearby sand. The service was extremely good and friendly. There is one fairly significant negative here though. Whilst we very much enjoyed sitting in the area right by the sea, it looks very much like an addition to the restaurant. The main part is really very nicely decorated with very nice tables and chairs. The very modern section, white, much cheaper chairs and tables by the water does not have the class of the main part. This is a great shame and it would be great if they replicated the whole area in the same way as the main part. That said, would still very much recommend this place for both lunch and dinner.More

Great place for fresh fish and the pasta (what a surprise!) was outstanding! Plus, there is a resident sea turtle who came by to savor some of our fish scraps the 2 nights we ate there! FUN

First, we were surprised that the environment did not match its hype. We felt the tables on the terrace nearest the sea were a bit spare and not at all romantic. We ended up going back up a flight of stairs to a table in...the room which houses the bar. All set for a great evening, our family of five was greeted by an enthusiastic hostess who welcomed us warmly. We were promptly asked by beverage orders. After that, things slowed down dramatically. Our cocktails took almost thirty minutes to arrive and ordering the meal seemed forever. We thought the food was good, rather than great and we always had to flag someone down to order another beverage or fill a wine glass. Service seemed quite pleased with itself, but its warmth could not make for our wait times and frequent disappearances. Though we did not complain and it was nice that they gave us a complimentary bottle to have with our desserts. Most of the dishes just missed. My pasta and mixed seafood was flavorful and the shrimp in it were absolutely fresh, but the dish arrived almost room temperature. Lobster was just a bit overdone and a bit dry and stringy (as opposed to the lobster at Blue which was succulent). Good potential here!More

Corner table with a privileged view of palm trees and the blue waters of the Dominican Republic. Seafood paella was well worth the short wait. Service was seamless with a genuine smile and great attitude. Strawberry, pineapple and mango sorbet was the perfect choice for...dessert.More

Eden Roc Resort is a beautiful place and the staff are friendly, but restaurant La Palapa was very disappointing and way over priced for the quality of food and drinks. Our food and drinks were terrible! For our appetizer we had the grilled sanchez prawns...which looked like small shrimp and only 3 of them. For our dinner we had the Sea Bass and King Crab Linguine. The Sea Bass was okay but bland and seemed to be overcooked. The King Crab Linguine should be called Tomato Linguine because it was hard to find the King Crab - very disappointed! Our drinks were not good and expensive. My wife is from the DR and I've been traveling here for the past three years and live here during the summer. We can honestly say this is the most disappointed we have been with a restaurants food and drink in the DR. Also, the restaurant decor needs to be updated.More
