My friends and I agreed that this was our favorite place we ate at while we were in San Juan. Sure, other restaurants were fancier and had richer food, but we felt that this was a more authentic experience. There are plenty of locals, the service is very to-the-point, and the food was great. I ordered a shrimp dish that... More

We ordered the chicharrones de pollo and the chuleta de centro (fried chicken and pork chops). Everything was great and under $12 a person! Order the hot chocolate because the resturant has the a/c pumping!

I am only giving 4 stars because I didn't order a lot of food (1 appetizer and 1 side dish) so I can't comment on main dishes. I had the octopus salad and was pretty solid. Tostones were also good, though I'd have liked to have garlic dipping sauce instead but that's just my preference.

Upon entering this old cafe it doesnt look like much, but the kind outgoing staff welcome you like family. They explain all about authentic Puerto Rican food and give each member of the family suggestions based upon likes and dislikes. Try the Mofongo here, its fantastic. A quaint cafe with super service.

We were recommended here by the local policemen. Great local food, simple atmosphere, fast service, but always crowded. They move people through quickly. Love it.

What can I say other than Cafe Manolin is the best place in Old San Juan for authentic Puerto Rican food. We couldn't wait to make it there for breakfast on a Sunday morning before leaving on a cruise later that afternoon and sit at the counter to enjoy the delicious omelettes, mini ham and cheese breakfast sandwich and fried... Whatever you order? Be sure to use their house made hot sauce because it is the best on the island. It's that perfect balance of heat and flavor!

It is busy place if any cruse ship arrives. Many people are hungry to look at their phones, not due to the food. And it is the way of attract people here. Coffee is really good. And choice of beverages seems to be wide as well.

We had lunch here and we were among very few tourists in the place. It was a weekday and there were a lot of locals on their lunch hour eating here. How they could work after a massive, delicious, authentic PR meal like this is beyond me, however. Neither my wife or I were able to finish our lunches, but... More
