We booked a dinner reservation at Santaella after another couple staying at our hotel told us about it. They said it was so good they had to go back again. Since we were going to Hamilton, we needed an early dinner reservation time, which worked...More

This was a wonderful restaurant with exceptional food. Highly recommend tuna tacos, goat cheese quesadilla, octopus and empanadas. Afterwards, you can walk around the neighborhood and enjoy some outdoor nightlife.

Stumbled upon Santaella by chance based up reviews. Glad we did. Octopus was amazing, pork shank, veal cheek and skirt steak all beautifully prepared. Super place!

Had a 9p reservation for 10. Were squeezed into table for 8 about 1015. By 11pm still no food. Crowded hipster scene where the staff didn’t care about service at all. By 1130, two couples had left due to no service and food. Don’t bother....More

We had dinner tonight based on a recommendation from the concierge at the Vanderbilt Hotel. The restaurant is small and neighborhood a bit questionable for those of us who are used to more elaborate surroundings. But the wait staff was fabulous and the food surpassed...More

Santaella has incredibly flavorful latin food, with a gourmet twist. I've been there many times and it never disappoints. It seems like it's also a go to spot for locals, as it's always crowded and even some people standing in the bar area. Also, great...More

We met someone in a bar who raved about this restaurant so we changed our original lunch plans — and we’re so glad we did! Beautiful space, attentive & friendly service, and exceptional food. The (bacon) croquetas were out of this world. The foie gras...More

I would say not expensive is you come from the USA but can get pricy for locals. Average high ... 18 to 35. On the other hand cóctails are around 15 per cóctails.

Chef José Santaella has trained with some of the best chefs in the world, including Ferrán Adriá, Eric Ripert, and Gary Danko. His apprenticeships and successful catering career paved the way for Santaella, his signature restaurant in Santurce's La Placita Marketplace. The decor is rustic yet elegant, with exposed walls, Edison light fixtures, an interior garden, and a sparkling bar. Chef Santaella fuses local and international ingredients to perfectly execute Puerto Rican nouvelle cuisine. The menu is dominated by tapas, which you can easily make into a meal. Favorites include the ahi tuna skewers, goat cheese quesadilla, 'alcapurrias' topped with crab, and foie gras terrine with fruit jelly . The cocktail bar is one of the best on the island, so don't leave without trying one of the concoctions by Santaella's mixologists. -Fodors
