Atypical location, ok for those who aren't looking for "chic" details. The place is rustic, the cuisine is typical (including Fassona steak, plin and tajarin among the various courses). The landlady very pleasant for my way of seeing life. The evening passed quickly with glasses of good Barbera. The Moscato served with the dessert, including an anecdote, is also good. It is a place that I would recommend, very "homemade", I would gladly return as in fact I was left with the feeling of having been honored by the hospitality received. A little gem off the beaten track for those looking for authenticity. It is possible to purchase the wine (various) produced by the company at very honest prices. Compliments.

For some time I had been looking for the opportunity to come and have lunch there, attracted in particular by some typically Piedmontese dishes that are increasingly less easy to find on the menus such as mixed fried fish and financiera, unfortunately due to my curiosity they were not among the courses when I was there but I have to say that everything went well anyway. The management is family-run, a kind and very nice lady who is both chef and owner welcomes customers together with the staff who are made to sit in a homely and informal environment, you really have the feeling of going to have lunch with them, in their home. The fixed menu offers many traditional dishes of which I couldn't say which was best since everything was excellent. Probably to my taste I preferred the raw meat platter and the napkin plin promptly seasoned with wine as per tradition. I underline an element of no secondary importance, they are also wine producers, I drank their Barbera d'Asti which I found excellent despite having just returned from days of tastings in other wineries including some famous ones in the Alba area.. . I know they also produce other wines that I will definitely try next time. Nice place, not touristy and very genuine! Obviously it must be said that as a type of menu and food it has a long duration and is therefore suitable for lunches with friends and quiet weekends.

If you are Piedmontese and have a dear grandmother who cooks very well and according to tradition, you are truly lucky and I envy you. However, if, like me, you are not Piedmontese but above all you have no one in the family who cooks the delicious dishes of the past, well don't be sad. There is always hope. I found it in this place. A friend told me about it and I wanted to go. I ate and drank very well and rediscovered the genuine flavors of the past. I found courtesy and I really appreciated the history of some dishes (primarily the plin ravioli served on a napkin). The only downside was the (tipsy) chatter of some nearby tables, but that is a problem of education of the diners and certainly not of the (very kind) staff of the place. I highly recommend it and hope to return soon.

Simple, familiar atmosphere as well as the management. All very simple like the trattorias of the past. Whether it is really like this or vaguely sought and wanted to remember the grandmother's trattoria of the past... and who knows. What is certain is that the environment is spartan, disengaged and very informal. Equally simple cuisine without frills and without too many expectations. Overall, it did not impress due to the excessive simplicity of the dishes, in particular the cured meats, first courses and desserts. Good home-produced wines. The professionalism and friendliness of the owner is indisputable. Value for money in my opinion not adequate

For those looking for a traditional Piedmontese environment I recommend it. It is not a way of saying "guests", you are really guests, you eat inside the house and some tables are in the same room as the kitchen, therefore everything is cooked under the eyes of the guest. Excellent products, generous portions and well cooked. The wine they produce is very good. Why didn't I give full marks? For the only flaw that is not indifferent to me, industrial bread and breadsticks in a place like this are out of place... Ps. I recommend putting the parking sign a little bigger....

The appetizers were good, but the ravioli del plin served on a napkin was much appreciated, so you can appreciate it in your hand as it was done in the past. Without seasoning you can fully appreciate the filling. Courteous service and the possibility of repeating at will. The second courses are also good and I'm sweet. I all accompanied by the house wine. All done in a traditional way, the kitchen is visible in one of the two rooms.

Excellent food and fantastic wine, the lady makes you feel at home with her explanations of the characteristic dishes. Location surrounded by nature and possibility to visit their vineyards. The plin to eat with your hands served in a napkin are a treat Highly recommended

A delicious, genuine, well-prepared lunch. A serene and familiar atmosphere. The cook and staff were welcoming and kind. The dishes are well explained with reference also to local traditions. A very pleasant experience and one to be repeated.

We booked the dinner in the afternoon, which was good because some of the dishes in the fixed menu take a long time to prepare and cook. All the dishes were super delicious and handcrafted in a way that added an extra level to the taste. We were curious about the cooking and the hosts were so generous and shared a lot of ideas with us to improve our Italian cooking at home. Of course the "secret ingredients" were not revealed.

We came to this tiny little town, Santo Stefano Belbo, in the Piemonte region of Italia so I could run--or should I say survive-- the beautiful but punishing 54K Trail del Muscato race in September 2016. Well the race was "hard labor" as the translated website predicted but our home base at Gallina Giacinto was wonderful, relaxing, and delicious. We stayed for 3 nights and the setting on a working vineyard was beautiful. The room was clean and comfy with a nice bath and at a reasonable rate. The included breakfast each day was a small feast and the hosts were more than accommodating of our vegan diet. The lovely Luisella, her husband, her Mom Anna, and the staff were amazing. Luisella's English, while not great, was more than adequate as our negotiated communication of her broken English and our laughable Italian (curtesy of our phrase book) just added to the ambience of the experience. For the feast that Luisella prepared for us the night before the race, we simply asked for it to be vegan and she made all the decisions -- there is no menu and no prices were discussed. It was out of this world wonderful. And somehow despite our politely saying no, we ended up drinking the better part of a bottle of their tasty Brut sparking white wine. (It didn't seem to adversely affect the race results.) Since we needed to head to the race the next morning at around 6:30, she sweetly prepared a breakfast in a basket for us the night before. We came back for dinner after Suzanna's 5-hour 21k walk and my 10+ hour 54k "run". Needless to say we were sore and exhausted but had another wonderful dinner, again with no menu and capped with delicious homemade vegan ice cream. Upon checkout we were amazed to learn that 3 nights plus two amazing dinners for two (both with a bottle of sparkling white wine) only cost $350. And that would have included a bottle of Moscato to go if we hadn't refused it because of our impending flight and wish to not check any bags. What a value! Oh and there was no wireless internet but who cares. (Tip: drive 5 minutes to the info booth at the park at the city center where they have free wireless to download your email, checking with Facebook and then happily go offline until next time!) And if you're not vegan, no problem, they have plenty of meat and cheese to take care of you. If we ever end up here in Piemonte again, you can be sure we will stay and eat here again. 5 Stars!

I ate here for their Easter lunch, which was a fixed menu. I am particularly fond of agritourismi in this area because the little family owned places like this are great at accommodating my two year old daughter. The staff will stop what they are doing to talk to a little kid and make sure she is getting everything she needs. The menus here are created to showcase their wines...this place is a winery first and a restaurant second. The antipasti were very simple but very high quality ingredients. They served a traditional Easter meal of agnolotti (tiny stuffed pasta) and lamb with potatoes. Very good, great atmosphere, and the views are fantastic. I will be here again.
