It's gone. A heap of rubble. Sailed into the anchorage to find the site of Basil's a construction zone. Only the flagpole standing. There is a tiny bar off site but that is all. Had a drink there but it certainly isn't the fabled Basil's. Apparently Basils is in the process of a complete re-build.

We tried the hamburger- frozen not fresh and crab cakes were dry and did not have the mango chutney with it for dinner. Service was good. The bar was nice and beer was $7EC. We would go to Veejays or Flow Wine Bar instead next time. We go up to Cobblestone Inn on top for lunch or breakfast.

We had a reservation on the early side, around 6:30 but when we arrived the place was lively with some live music. The services was excellent even with a group of 10 of us including six kids. The real treat was a guest pianist who on holiday and regularly plays Carnegie Hall--so fun! Must go if you are nearby.

We anchored in the bay for three days during the Blues Festival. We found the bar prices quite expensive but you have to remember where you are. It has character, it's a beach bar but a lot more. Basel says he's doing the building up this year. Please don't. It would never be the same. The music festival is definately... More

The first time we ordered the conch chowder and a seafood pasta but filled up on the chowder and bread, it was that big, tasty, and filling. Unlike most Caribbean conch chowder this is in a white sauce with conch and potatos and a taste so unique we tried to bribe them for the recipe. No luck so we will... More

Please don't waste your money going to this restaurant in Kingstown. The staff weren't interested in serving us . We waited ages for our drinks order to be taken only for the waitress to return asking us to repeat our order . My fiancé asked for the wifi code which she forgot to give to us and also forgot our... I've been going to Basil's for well over 30 years and have to say that it's one of the most memorable bars I've ever been to - but, sadly, it's not what it used to be though I understand that it has recently been taken over by new management and has improved somewhat. I fear that Basil, wonderful man though... More
