Mel was the hostess who assisted me to my table . I believe my original server may have been super overwhelmed with it being busy but Mel Stepped up and went above and beyond despite and operated within multiple capacities to ensure the job was...done and done well. She is efficient, hard working and serves with a smile. The food was great met my expectations considering that everyone I encountered spoke so highly of it . Ambiance was great dined outside there appears to be a floating seated area. However I simply sat outside near the structure. Strongly recommend also when reserving your seat be certain with your preference of outdoor indoor seating as the restaurant book out rather quickly and it may be a chance they may not be able to adjust your seats . Be certain to reserve for the exact same reason.More

Had a 6 PM reservation and a taxi made us 10 minutes late. We were told the credit card machine isn't working and we need to pay cash. We didn't have enough and ended up leaving and eating somewhere else. When we called later to...inquire if they had a table and accept credit cards and we were told they do! We will never go there after getting lied to because we showed up a little late. Too many other places to eat to deal with that crapMore

While vacationing on the Grand Bahama Island we visited this lovely eating establishment. A visit earlier to review the menu enticed us to give them a try, especially when we learned they were offering live entertainment on a Sunday evening. Reservations are recommended. We found...Host and Wait staff very friendly and attentive. Our Waitress, Mel, was engaging and so warm as she hosted our memorable evening at the Flying Fish. I have a husband who cooks very well, so we are always looking for eateries with chefs that offer the unusual fare or signature dishes that challenge his taste buds and don't break the bank. Our choices here included the grilled octopus with potatoes for appetizer, the Wahoo with potato dumplings, in a white butter sauce with mustard seed and the dessert of a chocolate mousse and Baileys Irish Cream cake. All of our choices were well presented, cooked perfectly and the flavors outstandingly balanced. Top that off with the ambiance of outside dining, a gently breeze and music....Absolutely PERFECT!!! Job well done Folks! You have much to be proud of. We hope to return before we leave the island....More

We ate at Flying Fish Gastropub today. The fish sandwich and onion rings were awesome. Our waiter, Rafael, was wonderful. He was knowledgeable, efficient, funny, attentive, and really made our experience memorable. Highly recommend this restaurant.

If you're looking for something in Freeport that is more of a sit down dining experience, take a visit to Flying Fish! The menu had an excellent selection and the food was pretty good too. We ordered a bunch of random tapas and each was...yummy! The drinks are tall and good as well. Not a "traditional" dining experience, but a good break if you've been having the same stuff all week. The space itself is long the water. Though we didn't sit outside, there appears to be a great outdoor dining location too.More

I ate here twice as it became my favorite very quickly. I was traveling alone of the holidays. The staff made me feel very comfortable. I sat at the bar and the bartenders Were great. Bernadette and Ryan are awesome and my second night a...very lovely lady was behind the bar and is very knowledgable about the island. I even called the second night to ask if they would reserve the same bar stool for me and they did. Thank you to all the staff for making my dining experience great.More

The food was the best meal we had on the island and the atmosphere was great, we felt the island was a little quiet in general but it was a great place to visit and the staff were so friendly.

The waiter recommended the Mango Habanero wings as an appitizer, I was a bit ify about it but it turned out delicious, also i had the escargot most restaurants only gives you 4-6 escargots however i had about 12 escargots in my serving it was...a great surprise. I had the Spicy coconut chicken curry it was amazing, also had the Flank steak medium rare which was scrumptious. I give Flying Fish GastroBar a 10/10.More

Stopped to get a bite the first night we arrived in The Bahamas. Even though there were empty tables, we did not have a reservation and were seated at the bar. I had a Fish sandwich, which was good; my husband had wings (which were...clearly frozen and then fried).More

Some really fine cuisine but the restaurant seemed over-stressed. Service was pretty compromised with looooong waits even for drinks let alone food. The 72 hr short rib was nothing short of amazing. Tender as can be with a deep beefy flavor. Excellent. Served with greens/mushrooms...with a great sauce and some very solid gnocchi, although couldn't detect the purported blue cheese ingredient. Chicken wings did not get great reviews. Hummus was described as a tad bland. Fish salad, however, was roundly liked. Crunchy pork belly was great along with the spinach dip appetizer. Easy parking right near the restaurant. Right on the water with a nice view. Can eat outside or in. Not an inexpensive bistro.More

One of the best restaurants on the island. They have a dock so you can take your boat and tie up. Service and food are always perfect

5 minute walk from where the water taxi drops you off. Be mindful the restaurant doesn't open until like 4pm, so double check that before you go.
