Good and bad really. On the plus side, this is a beautiful country pub, nice local atmosphere, good selection of beers and friendly staff. We were seated and served really quickly and I was impressed with the menu. Unfortunately my pheasant (which was lovely) had to be sent back because it was too pink, the pate, however, was more grey... More

We had lunch here on a Saturday. Lots of choice on the menu. We chose pork belly which was very tasty. I thought the service was excellent. The young waitress was really helpful. We had breakfast the next day, which was also very good. I liked the atmosphere, the wood burner and candles made it feel cosy on a wet... More

We booked for an early dinner as we were meeting other people afterwards, so this being on the way made sense. Our first visit here and absolutely not disappointed! A warm and friendly welcome at the bar and we were taken to our table. Little quaint dining area with various sized tables all having a lovely warm open fire n... More

On a recent visit to what is usually a nice pub, I found the food very overpriced and poor standard. Starters were supposed to be an expensive (over £7) mackerel tart that was literally under 2 inches round with a flake of mackerel in some white sauce. The rest of the vast slate plate was a lettuce based salad. Very... More

Blackboys has been one of my favourite places always and it had been a while since I have paid a visit. Not disappointed in the least. I ordered the sweet corn fritter as a starter which was divine. It was light, fluffy and tasty. My partner had the fish tacos which he said were delicious and packed with fish. I... More

Wonderful meal and overnight stay to celebrate our anniversary in this lovely old inn that now offers very lovely accommodation. The rooms are mini suites with mezzanine bedroom above a lounge area and with their own private terrace. Bed was exceptionally comfortable and the shower strong! Would highly recommend to anyone who wants a romantic stay in the country. Food... More

Outstanding food, great atmosphere, great beer. What more can you ask for? Bedrooms perhaps? The most comfortable bedrooms you'll find in the heart of Sussex.

We dropped in one evening, on spec, hungry and thirsty and it was just the right place. The pie was a 'proper' filled-pastry pie and not a pot with a pastry lid. As a coeliac I was able to enjoy fish and chips as the fish was coated in a specially-made tempura batter - a real treat. The ambience was... More
