What a fantastic day to end my trip to Acapulco. Booked a Hidden Paradise tour with Sunwing. Our Tour Guide Roger was excellent, he is very friendly, pleasant and funny. Roger can speak excellent English and French. I have had Roger (or his nick name Roger Dodger) as a tour guide on other tours and he puts so much effort and passion in his presentations. Roger took our group for a delicious lunch to Restaurant Esmirna del Mar on the beach. It was a lovely setting and very tranquil. We were served appetizers of 2 Sopas and 2 tacos. 1 cheese and 1 fish. Very good. Then came the big piece of Red Snapper called A la Talla served with salad and rice. Very Good. Ordered a fizzy apple drink called Manzanita Sol which was a nice refreshing drink. What a wonderful lunch and a nice spot to relax in between our other excursions that day to Laguna de Tres Palos for a boat ride and Campamento Tortuguero Playa Hermosa to release baby turtles.

All you need for a pleasant visit to the beach. Away from Acapulco’s crowded beaches. They have clean showers, pool and comfortable beach furniture, good food and friendly hosts

Barra Vieja, south of downtown Acapulco has long been known as a beach with simple “palapas” or straw roofed enclosures where “Pescado a la Talla” is the main attraction. A whole fresh fish is presented to the customer to select the right type and size. It is then “spatchcocked” with its backbone removed, but included in the plate, smothered with a special rubbing of spices and a dressing of a variety of dried chiles and is then perfectly charcoal-grilled. The spice level is not hot at all, but very savory; the flesh is moist and succulent. We have tried many places: Esmirna del Mar takes the Prize. We started with an order of “sopes”, little pancakes made with fried tortilla dough, covered with a thin layer of delicious black beans paste and a dollop of slightly hot sauce. There are ceviches of all varieties except clams: the population of the incredible Pacific mollusk has been exterminated in the Guerrero coast by voracious and abusive clamming. It’s a 30 minute ride from Acapulco and not many other offerings in the menu but the exceptional gastronomical experience and feet on the sand feel, under a palapa, in front of an beautiful angry ocean beach with a cold beer at hand is unique, as is the name of the restaurant which, for some mysterious reason, refers to the seaside Turkish city of Izmir.

This place is absolutely perfect! The ambience was great, shaded table with a cool breeze right by the beach. Our tour guide Roberto (mr happiness) took our family there for lunch and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was out of the world! The Camarones was mouthwateringly delicious and so was the empanadas. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Can’t wait to go back in November.

You HAVE to taste the specialty of the house, the Smirna style fish. The “a la talla” fish is also very good. It has two pools that are great for kids, and the location is convenient. Staff is nice. Full fish takes about an hour to be prepared, so order with time.

Our tour guide Roberto Alarcon Transportation & Tours took us to this cute local casual beachfront restaurant where you can get a huge red snapper or any fresh pick you'd like brought to your table. The fresh fish is absolutely delicious and served butterflied in traditional sauces either A La Talla or in Garlic Sauce. The sunsets from this place are phenomenal and definitley worth the visit. Highly recommend this restaurant right on the beach for all the right reasons, we will be back!!!

Located in Barra Vieja. A bit of a drive from downtown, but worth it. Had the grilled snapper with garlic (you can pick out your own and pay by the kilo) and it was wonderful. Nice place and very clean. Would highly recommend.

This was the best meal we had the entire week we stayed in Acapulco! My husband and I had a romantic table facing the ocean waves at sunset. We ordered the seafood combination for two which included a whole red snapper, two lobsters and shrimp with rice and fried plantains. Everything was delicious!! My husband and I couldn't stop talking about how much we loved everything. Our waiter's name was Ricky and he was fantastic! He was extremely helpful and made our last night in Acapulco very memorable. If you're in Acapulco, we highly recommend a seaside dinner at Esmirna del Mar.

location is kinda in the middle of nowhere! view of the beach isnt great. but the fresh seafood was INCREDIBLE! brought the fresh choices to our table to select what we wanted. best red snapper we both have ever had!! After dinner went for a walk on the beach and left our table for just a moment and a dog took our leftover fish LOL !!! luckily we were done, and this is common on the beaches in mexico!

Our taxi driver took us here. They set up for us on the beach. We were the only ones at the restaurant, so we were not sure how it was going to go. It was outstanding! Fresh fish grilled to our linking with sides and drinks, a strolling guitar player who stayed for ten or more songs. One of the highlights of our trip to Acapulco. After dinner, we met with the owners, who asked us to sit with them and bought after dinner drinks for us. We could have stayed for hours. We were staying at the Grand Mayan, and needed a taxi. No problem. We'll be back!

My wife and I wound down our trip to Acapulco with a trip to this wonderful place by the ocean. It is an open air, thatched roof joint. Not fancy, but the seafood will blow you away! Being seafood lover's anyway, I wished that I had a few more days, because we would have went often. We had a red snapper, shrimp, lobster on a platter with yellow rice and salad. Carnitas, and drinks for about $35 U.S. If you don't try anything else, you absolutely, positively have to try the pescado a la talla. It's the fish of the day, (ours was red snapper) broiled with local seasonings that melts in your mouth. Outta sight! My wife and I then went and rode four wheelers up and down the beach, fun!

The food is excellent, ethnic dishes, so fresh that you choose your fish, lobster, shrimps. The shrimp empanada is amazing, so tasty and a real Mexican dish. Beans sopes are truly amazing if you don't like hot salsa don't try the green one but a little drop is a must, be careful is very very hot but with a wonderful flavor. The ocean is stunning in this side of Acapulco, is very safe, local friendly good people. Here is my amazing surprise. I forgot my IPhone 6 Plus in the table and I realized that arriving at my hotel 30 minutes ahead so I went back and they was waiting for me with my iPhone that my waitress gave to the manager and it was very difficult to convinced she to accept a gratuity. Don't pay attention to bad news, Acapulco is full of honest, ethic, lovely people. They have problems like every country and city but not in touristic spots. I loved Esmirna, the relax ambience and the real Mexican local food, the lovely service made and unforgettable afternoon!
