What an amazing view: centro's ancient aztec ruins, a cathedral, churches, palaces, and twin volcanoes! And the coffee is delicious!

The best view of the city to sip a drink on the terrace overlooking the archeological site. The terrace is quite big and the service is very fast. The entrance is from the library.

A gorgeous shaded rooftop spot offers a great view, and excellent food. But the best part is El Mayor's version of mole sauce. Ubiquitous and varying from sublime to inedible, mole sauce is one of Mexico's signature foods. A fan for many years, I have often been underwhelmed or downright disappointed. But here, the duck tostadas with mole, were, as... More

Very reasonable, especially so with the weak peso. Appetizers were very good as was the main meal. Terrific view and it was quiet enough for a table of five to maintain a conversation throughout the meal. A definite must.

El Mayor is a great place to have a sandwich, a beer, or a cup of coffee while you look out over the historic center of Mexico City. From its place on the roof of Porrua book store you can see the ruins of the temple complex of Tinoctitland, the center of the Aztec empire, the Metropolitan Cathedral and the... More

Incredible locating overlooking the zocalo, but better food and service than you would normally expect in a touristy area. Great view, wonderful menu and above average service. Most enjoyable lunch.

Good place with elaborate menu and excellend view to the Aztec ruins of Templo Mayor just below. On holydays reservation is highly recomended, although you way wait in a bar on the same level, it the cue is not too long. Fish menu recomended among the other meals.

Although this place has an amazing view looking down on the ruins of the Great Pyramid, speakers all around the terrace area were blasting rock music during my breakfast. The food was very good, but the coffee was weak and tasteless.

We had lunch here one afternoon after visiting some museums. The view is spectacular and the food was excellent. We had soup and some light fare. Service was also better than most places we ate at on this trip.

Holy cow this is amazing and this is exactly the view that I was looking for and the vibe that I want for a café. I wish I would've come here for breakfast!
