You would be hard pressed to find a more pleasant restaurant anywhere in the world. The staff is clearly dedicated to providing the best in friendly, professional service. From start to finish it was so impressive. The menu in unique and fun with so many options - seafood to steak, soup to salads, Bone marrow specialties! A multitude of drinks.... More

The Monte Cristo is located right on the side of Insurgentes Norte near Indios Verdes metro in a so-so neighborhood. After driving past hundreds of times over the years, we came here for a late Sunday lunch after reading the reviews here on TA, and I have found my new Mexico City favorite spot! The building is beautiful and immaculately... More

Very close to basilica... Beautiful setting... Great service! Enjoyed arrachera, chile relleno con chicharron, tuetanos...and how about a tasty tamarindo frappe to drink! You can't go wrong

We were looking for a nice restaurant close to the Basilica and had plenty of free parking. This was about a KM from the Basilica and was easy to get to. The food was well worth the above average prices. The service was one of the best.

This is out of the center but worth the trip. Guacamole made at the table with diner's choice of papers and other additions. Fresh tortillas, delicious fish dishes and an interesting and varied menu. Very attentive and friendly service. An upscale restaurant that probably caters to local families at weekends and evenings. We sadly only had a lunch there. Highly... More

One of the best restaurants of the city and certainly the best in the Basilica zone, also good location for the pyramids trip. Old hacienda style with a gorgeous patio. The restaurant inside is very nice with a great fireplace, it has some small privates for large parties. Mexican haute cuisine, original and classic dishes with a gourmet approach that... More

We have been living in Mexico for three years and I think this is the best Mexican restaurant we have been to. You can ask for a tailor made salsa by looking at the wide range of ingredients. I had the spicy mushroom soup and the fried huachinango (red snapper) which was excellent. For desert the camote (sweat potato) with... More

The patio at Monte Cristo is not to be missed. It's springtime all year round in their beautifully appointed patio. The food was outstanding and the service was amazing. Very close to the Basilica for those visiting.

We were fortunate enough to have our guide Hector Hernandez of Diamondtransportadora.com recommended this place on our day trip to the pyramids and we loved it! The place is charming and very nice inside. Like going to a true Mexican hacienda. The service is stellar and our meal was authentic and delicious. We are from Arizona so it helped to... More

If you are in Mexico City, Monte Cristo is a MUST, no matter how heavy the traffic from wherever you are coming. As you enter the gate of this amazing Hacienda, you are greeted by the courteous valet parking staff. As you make your way to the entrance of the restaurant you can see very distinctive motives from the old... More

Faithful to the 19th century Antiguo Meson Mejicano (Old Mexican Inn) in all its unspoiled glory, we offer you the chance to partake, in a stately old-world manse, of the most delectable dished from the country's various regions and culinary institutions, from the fonda, cantina, and plaza stand to the most elaborate convent cuisine. All, served with different atmospheres as backdrops, from the coolness of the hidden courtyard, to the airy spaces of the Mexican hacienda.

Welcome to the days of yore!
