Tío Guero is a favorite restaurant during our stays in Oaxaca. The food is great - the comida daily menu extends into the evening, selection runs from moles to a fabulous chilies en nogada preceded by a wonderful soup and followed by a small dessert. Staff are friendly and prices great. Enjoy.

We ate here last night, based on a recommendation from our hotel. They advertise hours from 7:30 to 8:30pm on a flyer, but to 11pm at the restaurant. We were welcomed and seated ahead of those hours at 7:15pm. The walls are covered with art that is for sale. The main dishes are accompanied by a soup course, and either... More

We enjoyed this place very much. We both had the pork with mole - mine Negro and my husband´s Rojo. Came with soup and rice. Small, comfy place and the service was very good. We would eat here again.

We went here specifically because they serve chile en nogada which we learned to really enjoy several years ago in Mexico City. We were not disappointed with the food. The chile en nogada with pork filling was delicious. By the time we finished our meal we were the only ones in the dining room. Upon paying we asked the server... More

Service excellente. Chile rellenos were cooked with only an egg batter so those of us with gluten allergies can rejoice. De todos modos, no hay ningun razon de usar harina. There is no reason to use flour anyway. The waiter/chef also understand dairy allergies. El mesero y la cocinera tambien entiendan el concepto de alergias de comida. The taste was... More

It's been quite a challenge to find a place to eat vegetarian mole in Oaxaca, so it was great to finally see it on the menu somewhere! The mole was really delicious and the food generally was very simple but good. Interestingly the vegetarian mole dish costs 140 pesos on the menu, but the waiter told us the menu del... More

We love this pleasant restaurant on García Vigil. Friendly, airy, decent art on the walls, excellent service, the comida costs a little more than you might spend mid-afternoon though nothing outrageous--the food is very well-prepared, well-served. Easily worth a visit.

This restaurant is ideal for a Oaxacan breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The flavors are delicious, especially the enchiladas, enfrijoladas (enchiladas with black bean sauce), and enmoladas (enchiladas with mole). It is the perfect place to relax, have very good coffee, and enjoy the excellent service!!!

We came at lunch and all was full, so we waited upstairs in a forgotten terrace until they asked us to come back down. When a table opened up, we ordered the comida corrida, and it was excellent. I ordered mole negro and we had a relaxing afternoon as a calenda (street parade) went by right out the door. Not... More

I have been there for one time because they have a big card of menue of the day with different price levels. You will get soup, main courses and dessert and Aqua de sabor. Ok you can eat and drink it all, but the taste of the meal is a bit poor. A had a chicken brest with rice and this... More
