Delicious Oaxacan cuisine made from very high quality local corn. Particularly recommend the tetelas bongos (!!) and a big agua de guanabana. Very reasonable prices.

A casual cafe in the middle of the bustling Colonia Reforma serving a wide selection of the cuisine typical of the region. A great place to "sample" when ordering with a friend. My partner and I ordered 6 items - which gave us plenty of time to enjoy the local color and sample some of the best tortilla based dishes... More

Itanoni is outside of the city center. But just a little bit. And as you get oriented to Oaxaca, you will find how easy it is to get here by local bus. The street is actually a fun street to walk down to get to the restaurant. Their specialty? Regional dishes made with different types of corn tortillas, a lot... More

If you want the best tortilla based Mexican food in Oaxaca you must make the short walk out of Central into Reforma. A must for lunch - just charming and delicious.

Try champurrado - chocolate drink with corn dough as thickener. It came in a bowl and we ate most of it with spoon before realizing we should be drinking it from the bowl- much better. We enjoyed the "de ese" - taco rolled with hoja santa and tetela -a folded tortilla filled with mushrooms and cheese. Sit at a table... More

Itanoni is an airy, smallish local restaurant that features "tetelas" (delicious, thin flour tortillas, stuffed with your choice of ingredients, folded into triangles and then griddled), excellent tamales in banana leaves and other Oaxacan snacks. All are prepared on clay griddles before your eyes and everything delicious. My wife and I had an excellent lunch there for about six dollars for... More

The spiritualized eggs were my favorite breakfast in Oaxaca. Four kinds of organic corn flour. Tetelas. It's all fantastic and a learning experience.

In two weeks, this is the only restaurant we'll visit multiple times. The food is so delicious, especially mushrooms "tetelas" (triangle pockets) and "ese" (with hola santa pressed into the tortilla). The blue corn is different from white, and oh so good. This place is real Oaxaca. While we were eating lunch, it was filled with families, couples, solos, and... More

It's all about the corn here ! And it is all delicious. This is a rustic unassuming eatery that serves extraordinary food. Do not be fooled by the ambience. This place has some seriously good food at ridiculous prices. We ate our way through the menu and everything was tasty. The fresh corn tortillas made in front of your eyes... More

Itanoni has an extensive menu of corn-based antojitos that are some of the best I had during six weeks in Mexico. They're super fresh and really tasty as a result. We pretty much just ordered one of each variety, which I'd recommend to people looking to try a little bit of everything, and it was very filling and cheap too.... More
