Everyone should try this place at least once. El Caldero serves heart warming soups with authentic Mexican flavour. We tried the chicken with vegetables and beef with vegetables, and the serving size is very large. They also offer tortillas to eat with your soup and corn chips to snack on while you wait, although we didn't have to wait long... More

They have a big menu and lots of different styles of soup for if you having a delicate stomach or your in need of a hearty, healthy meal! In particular I like my chicken soups, priced around 80 Pesos, really tasty and you wont leave hungry! Was a little bit noisey when the live music was playing but I dont... More

Among countless Mexican restaurants in San Cristóbal de las Casas is 'El Caldero.' Specializing is creative soups, breakfasts and other carefully-prepared Mexican food, the difference is outstanding quality, friendly service, a central location, all at a great value. Look no further when you want extraordinary 'comida típica' in the center of town!

El Caldero, has a variety of delicious soups for a cold rainy day in Sancris. You get to taste some of the Mexican flavors.

Delicious soups and they give you free tostadas sauces and guac to start. Really well priced, my soup was 79 pesos and too big to finish. We came back twice. They also gave us free dessert one day

El Caldero serves big, hearty bowls of traditional Mexican-style soup! Go here for a cheap, cozy, belly-warming meal on a cold evening in San Cristobal, and you won't be disappointed. El Caldero was recommended on a backpacker's blog I read, so I decided to go with it since she raved about it and I am also backpacking and wanted to... More

They offered a number of traditional soups - we tried two of them - which were large servings, great tasting, and only around 80 pesos or 4 dollars each. We were delighted!

We were recommended to go to this place by friends. I personally really didn't like it, it was too bland for my taste, but my partner thought it was great. They also serve really nice lemonade. During our visit someone came in to play music for a while as well.

We ordered two meals with pork and it was really tasty! Big size dish, in good price, nacho including and tortias! Highly recomended!
