Advice… try every starter and especially the queso con chorizo. If you make it to the main dishes all is well with my soul.

Enjoyed a tasty lunch at this non-touristy restaurant. One meal was a breaded fish meal with rice & steamed vegetables, very good. And I had the Checandole tacos-delicious! Mexican food that even the unadventurous person will enjoy. Service was prompt and polite. Just steps away...from market 28 if you want to do some shopping. Guacamole appetizer, two sodas & meals for $21. Definitely recommend.More
We have been coming here regularly for four months now, at least once a month. The service is impeccable, the food is amazing, the ambience is top notch. Order nachos for entree. Azteca soup is a must try. Fish is supreme. We love Checandole 🖤
Its always nice to go with someone who knows the owners. Was salivating to have great Mole, and its definitely a hit at this restaurant!! Great food, service and ambience.
Went for lunch while at the Mercado 28 market. Arrived as 12:30, and were the first customers as they open at noon. After a while more people started showing up. They bring a big bowl of spicy green salsa dip and some chips while you...have time to look over the menu. Dip was outstanding...could have used more chips as there is a lot of salsa, but we did not ask for more. Ordered a beer, guacamole, and chicken enchiladas for two of us to split. Food - the salsa as mentioned, was really good. The guacamole was fresh and a large portion, but very bland. We added a lot of salt and some of the salsa, which helped. As they did not bring more chips with the guacamole, we ran out of chips with still a lot of salsa and guacamole left. The enchiladas were outstanding, 4 small rolled up flour tortillas filled with chicken and covered with an excellent green chili sauce, and a small portion of black beans, which were very flavorful. All in all we paid about 200p ($10 US) for all. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Definitely recommend!More
Sat on the outdoor terrace. Friendly service. No set menu or chicken mole today because it was Monday. We were also the only customers from the minute we arrived until we left (roughly 6:30-7:30pm). Husband got the chicken enchiladas with mole sauce since there was...no chicken mole. He LOVES mole and liked this one well enough. Son liked what he ordered but thought the margarita was a bit strong. My daughter's taco with chopped beef and cheese was large and tasty. My caldo xochitl was way too salty, though. Do check your bill because my daughter's taco had a much higher price (more than 100 pesos higher for an item that was under 100 pesos) than on the menu. The waiter immediately changed it when we pointed it out. They take cash only. Not sure if we would return, maybe call ahead for set menu.More
Five friends went to Checándole on a weeknight evening about 6:30. One was Mexican and the rest were Canadians who knew only a little about Mexican food. The restaurant was almost empty. We were promptly brought taco chips and salsa verde and our drink orders...arrived quickly. A long discussion about Mexican food ensued and the proprietor brought us samples of posole, mole sauce, and green enchilada sauce. Our orders arrive promptly and soon we had almost more delicious food than we could eat. The service was fast and very hospitable. We will go back at the first possible opportunity.More
This is an extraordinary place, economic & homy Mexican food, opens at 1:30 pm, come early and you order ( comida corrida) a choice of soup or rice and 3 different plates to choose from.
No too expensive, no too cheap, but the prices are ok for the food quality, is worth it the guacamole, they have seasonal fruits drinks, go for the Mexican speciality, around 3 is very crowded, try to get in at 2, service is their best...quality. A lot of locals from the area go here for lunch.More
I was with my husband in Checandole during our honeymoon in Cancún. The restaurant is located near Mercado 28, a traditional Mexican art craft market. This family restaurant was established since the early years of the city, making it an icon of Cancún. We ate...a delicious tortilla soup and of corse the most delicious enchiladas de mole (chocolate sauce with chili). The people were always very attentive and the owners were extremely nice. This restaurant is the option if you want to try really Mexican food outside the touristic world. We had a great lunch and time at ChecandoleMore
When you're on vacation in Mexico and you spend some days in Cancun you definately need to stop at Checandole. I recommend to do that in the beginning of your vacation because believe me after that you want to eat there again. You easily can...combine it with a visit to Mercado 28 because it's really close by. The food is delicious, I always have a hard time to decide what to order because everything is so good. It's typical Mexican food and it's super fresh. Everything is homemade and I promise you won't leave hungry. Also the service is really good. Everybody is so friendly. There is a neat terrace to sit and also indoor tables. Parking is not a problem also. Go there to have awesome traditional food for fair prices. Don't miss it!More
This was the first restaurant we ate at in Mexico , and it was definitely one of our favourites. To start we had guacamole and chips which was delicious. Next we had chorizo tacos which were incredibly tasty. Would recomend this place to everyone !
Checandole is a traditional Mexican restaurant in Cancun right next to the famous market 28. It was full of locals when we walked by so we decided to check it out. Wow, it was really good! They offered 3 different dishes as "menu del dia"...and also a wide range of other mexican dishes! I had the "menu del dia" and chose chicken mole. One of my friends chose the "bomba", a taco filled with chicken, meat, peppers and cheese. Also really tasty. The prices are really fair (menu del dia about 50pesos). The staff was really friendly. We had a laugh with the owner. He was also helpful showing us how to get to Wal-Mart (which is nearby). Next time in Cancun without a doubt we'll come back to eat in Checandole!!!More
