We are not into Mexican food so we were looking for option, the place is hard to find, in a side street behind a hotel, but on the lagoon . We are from Belgium so we are picky, the food was great, bread was a...nice change from the chips we get every where ( I do not like them , everywhere it is the same , they are thick , hard, where are the Doritos)my steak tartare was great, onion soup for the husband was very good, we shared the mussels traditionally prepared, a bit over cooked but plentiful and good. Dessert soso, my crepes Suzette were okay and the dame Blanche for my husband was okay too . Nice restaurant with good food. Their onion soup is among the best I’ve ever had. I had tuna but it was rather thin so it did not dear as rare as I like it. My wife had a stuffed chicken that she enjoyed. We’ve been...here several times and it is never busy. More people add to the ambiance. At one point, we were the only people at the restaurant. They really don’t know how to make a Martini. There is the biggest crocodile I have ever seen living in the water under the restaurant. That was interesting. This restaurant is hard to find so you really want to eat there.More

We’ve visited La Palapa Belga several times and it never disappoints! The service and food are both amazing. The setting is gorgeous. Even in hot weather there was a lovely breeze by the lagoon. This is a hidden gem! Tucked away and not overly commercial...like so many other restaurants in Cancun now. The chef knows his stuff!! We would highly recommend. Our waiter Didier and all of the staff were just lovely. The tuna steak is awesome and the French onion soup is the best I’ve ever had.More

This was one of our favorite restaurants in Cancun, but have not been there for 13 years. We are happy to report that it is still wonderful. My wife, our son and 12 year old granddaughter, and me were the party. There was quiet live...jazz playing. We started with the escargot, which was terrific. My wife and I split the salmon and a Greek salad, both were very good. Our granddaughterhad the beef filet, which was tasty, but chewy and not recommended. Our son had one of the specials, but we can't recall what it was other than he liked it very much. Prices are reasonable, and the food is great. Caution:. When you go to this restaurant, you will think you are lost, but you are not. If you take the bus, you will walk down the street next to the golf course and walk by the entrance several times before you realize that you enter through a small hotel, turn left, and follow a pathway a very short distance toward the lagoon. You will find the restaurant overlooking the lagoon, and enjoy the sunset. If you take a taxi, you will be dropped off in front of the small hotel. You will say to yourself,"Really. Through here?". If you like good food and a tremendous on the water view of the bay looking across to the hotel and club night life with great service this is the place. The waiter, Ramiro, was great. Never rushing us and helping my wife with her...selection. She had fresh Pacific salmon and I got the new york steak and a dessert to die for. Good drinks also. Highly recommend this place that nobody seems to have heard of. Will come here on every return to Cancun. Away from the party zone.More

As we were staying in this cute little neighborhood, we found that little restaurant on the water. The food is really good, our waiter Ramiro and the girls are very nice and helpful. The view is really amazing and the place is quiet, tucked away...from the tourist crowd. They also have very good wines. We will come back again during our next visit.More

The view is amazing! The food is a good price. The wine list is being updated and we were referred to a couple of choices and it was terrific. Staff was helpful and attentive. They spoke English and Spanish and made us feel very welcome....The place is tucked away and you wouldn’t even know it was there if you didn’t know about it. We ate French onion soup, pescado del día and seafood in a white sauce! We loved it all! Ramiro was very accommodating. Definitely will be back at this little gem of a place.More
