Our first visit was last night during the pandemic and the restaurant was clean and sanitary. They checked your temperature, logged it and had hand sanitizer for use. I had made reservations for 4 via Open Table and asked for a table with a sunset...view and that’s exactly what we got. They sat us outside on the patio. The sunset was beautiful with the view of the lagoon. Once we got seated the staff noticed my kids had their small backpacks with them and brought over a bag stand so it would be out of the way.
The service here is by far the best we’ve had so far during our day 5 of 8 stay in Cancun. It’s even better than a couple places we ate at in the Marriott/JW Marriott where we were staying at across the street. We were lucky enough to get Mercedes as our server. She was absolutely fantastic!!! Very friendly and attentive. If you ever come here ask for Mercedes to serve you. You won’t regret it. My husband likes to make small talk with everyone he meets while we’re on vacation. Mercedes was very cordial and didn’t rush, even though she was busy, my husband’s conversation with her which he appreciated. She had a serving partner, Jesus, and he was awesome as well. He was quick at getting everything we asked for. The entire staff there was great and always checking up on us. You can see that they were all working as a team and working for every customer around us to ensure each person had an excellent experience.
The food was good and reasonably priced for what you would expect for seafood and this type of restaurant as we compared it to what we would get back home in Seattle. We ordered the seafood platter, side of asparagus, mashed potatoes and french fries to share. We were surprised and received a chef’s special shot of soup w/shrimp and potatoes. The platter came out on a super hot plate with some grilled fish, octopus, crab, lobster, shrimp and side of melted butter. I think it was all grilled, a little dark outside to tell. First bite of lobster was ok, but second bite with the butter was yum. Butter was delicious with all the seafood. Octopus was not as chewy as I thought it would be and was tender. My husband liked the mashed potatoes, but the my girls and I think garlic mashed potatoes would’ve been better. My teen girls got virgin pina coladas and they liked it. We’re usually too full for dessert, but they brought out an iPad with a video of all the desserts they had. I love that I can see what I’m actually getting and not just reading what it is on the menu. All the desserts looked so good we had to order one, the coconut pie, to share. It was delish!More
