Interesting spot, similar to Taboo.

This is another restaurant the hotel had recommended (as it's walking distance from the Ritz). They also informed us that this hotel is owned by a restaurant group that owns 4 restaurants - this one along with Parlor and Taboo (and another one). While we couldn't make it to Parlor, we did find that the ambience of Funky Geisha was very similar to Taboo. However, not sure if it's b/c of Funky Geisha or b/c we went on Sunday night, but the ambience was very subdued. Assuming there was a live DJ (we were sat on the other side of where a DJ would be), the music was much softer and the restaurant did not get full until closer to 9 PM. They also had live entertainment - there were two dance groups that performed in the aisles. Also interesting/weird was that they sat us on the couches in the front. but anyone they sat after us, would immediately request to be moved to the tables. It seemed like no one was interested in sitting on the couches. If that's the case, they should just offer up front if the guests want to sit at the couches or a regular table. The couches are comfortable to sit at and have a drink, but def. not very comfortable to have dinner at. Since we are vegetarian, we had limited options. We ordered the Vegetable Yakimeshi and the Mushroom Curry. Both were extremely flavorful but the Yakimeshi was def. our favorite! We also ordered the magma cake, which was really good but very heavy. The cocktails were unique and exotic. def worth trying but nothing that I would get multiple drinks of. Overall the food was def good but we wish the ambience was more lively

Great ambiance over Nichpte lagoon enhancing delicious Thai, Japanese and Korean food.

Enter from Kululakan Blvd to a bamboo tunnel taking you into lively dinning area with bamboo lit hanging light fixtures and many plants which make you feel like you’re in the jungle. Over the Nichupte lagoon. Great music. Fireworks over lagoon after 9pm. Japanese male drummers with Kabuki painted faces which perform many times. Food was perfect presented on wooden plates and served by multiple servers so food is hot, water glasses always full and got check promptly. Great Moijto and Large Sapporo beers available. Would’ve like to have wooden chopsticks as steel are served so I used a fork. A definite return destination when in Cancun!

Birthday magical celebration

I had the pleasure to go with my sister to celebrate my birthday on Monday 20th, it was my first time visiting Funky Geisha and I must say it exceed my expectations, I had seen some photos but the experience was magnificent. The service starting from the welcoming was very good and I'd like to highlight that our waiter Draco gave us an excellent service, he gave us recommendations and his attitude was great and funny, we saw him interacting in a friendly but still professional manner with the other tables and as a very sweet detail he surprised me with a chocolate cake. The service was very quick and their vast menu with not only one type of cuisine had mindblowing dishes as well as beverages. The show was something that really impressed me and it created the perfect atmosphere to go along with the theme of the restaurant. Definitely I would go again and recommend it to friends and family because the staff and their team work put the effort to create a one of a kind experience that goes above and beyond the traditional concept; you can tell that everyone enjoys being part of Funky Geisha! It was a lovely experience, thanks again to the manager Brian that keeps the energy of the place to the top.

VERY BAD SERVICE, UNFLAVORED FOOD AND THEY WILL DEMAND YOU TIP THEM BY LYING!

Very bad experience for an Asian restaurant in México!, my family visiting from UK-London, they went there 2 days ago and they got ripped by the waiters asking more of the total bill for a “MANDATORY 15% TIP!!!”… “That’s the rule in México” they were told AND for taking one photo they say to them “Get me good tip cause I’m being nice to you”. Real Asian disapproved the taste and this kind of bad service it’s not what México should be offering to tourists! They need to earn a tip, not ask for it ALL the time during visit and not for taking a photo as favor, come on? If you want to be treated very bad, overpay for a unflavored “Asian dish” but just with an “pretty ocean view” and pay your “mandatory Mexican tip” (which is FALSE: you tip them cero if they don’t do a proper job and it’s perfectly FINE) then this is the place. For us definitely a bad/sad story to this trip, as Mexican I felt heart broken because it was a special dinner for them and I was the one telling them to come visit México from beginning but this it’s not what they expected and neither do I.

If you are over 35, don't bother going here

Setting is very unique, a lot of money was spent on atmosphere. Unfortunately, you cannot eat atmosphere. If you are over 35 years old, don't bother going. You will be totally ignored. Food: you can get better at your local Asian place. Service was awful- took over an hour to get drinks and not all that we were ordered, was served. Prices are unreal. We were charged $30 for a Mai Tai and $30 for a tuna roll!!! We ordered 3 curry dishes (different ones) and all tasted the same. Very disappointed...

Wow factor restaurant if you want great food service and entertainment, We absolutely loved this place, the decor is beautiful surrounded by palm trees and a boho setting with a view over the lagoon, we was greeted straight away on arrival and shown to our table, while dinning we saw a show of taiko drums. We had the pai Thai and green Thai curry both dishes full of flavour. We will be returning next time in cancun.

What an amazing experience

The first thing we noticed was how amazing the atmosphere was. You forget you’re in a tourist location and feel like you’re in a secluded 5 star resort in the middle of the jungle. The staff is very friendly (shoutout to Gabito!) and the food is delicious. They have dishes ranging from just under 200 pesos to thousands of pesos, so whether you’re on a budget or high rolling… Funky Geisha is the spot! 10/10 would come back again

High energy dinner theatre

If you are in the mood for a high energy dinner party, this is a fun place to go. Waiters will be singing and dancing all around you the whole night while you try to eat. The fun waiters and trainees are so eager to please they removed our Sake glasses from our table before we finished our Sake. I was asked if I wanted desert before I finished eating my fish. The staff was definitely attentive but too attentive for us to enjoy our food. I like to be left alone while I sample the food and take in the scenery. Food was tasty especially the spring rolls and dragon roll. Waiters Ysidro and Juan were super friendly and funny. I would have given a 5 but the music was way too loud. Definitely a Party place. Get ready to dance on the tables!

Best place to have a birthday and a great dinner

We came to this place based off a few recommendations but I wasn't expecting the amazing experience here. We came here to celebrate a low key birthday and came out with the best birthday experience I've ever had. The waiters are attentive , friendly, and fun to talk to. The shows and attention to detail they put to all of their customer service and food is hands down the best I've ever had. I had the 28 day aged steak and my girlfriend had the cowboy steak while my friends had sushi. We all loved the food and it was so delicious. It wasn't just a great restaurant, the plating and attention to detail to our specific requests made us feel like the staff would go above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. I would definitely come here again and again whenever I come to Cancun

Everything in this restaurant was great...especially the service! Our server Juan Carlos was amazing...we were celebrating my girlfriend's birthday and he gave us recommendations on the food and drinks accommodating our vegan pereferences. He definitely made our evening one we'll never forget! He was very carismative and attentive.

Dinner + Experience

My friends and I had an amazing time at this restaurant. Dinner was such an experience. It was basically dinner and a show. The ambiance was an experience. The staff was super friendly and helpful with such upbeat and positive vibes. Carlos was our server and he was such a knowledgeable person of the food, allergies to food, and the area that we were staying in. Although it rained a portion of our dining at the restaurants, that did not stop the show and the energy that the staff had. The food was not pricey and well cooked/seasoned.

Absolutely incredible. A dinner experience unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before. My wife and I were looking for a place near our hotel where we could have dinner and decided to just walk to funky geisha to see if they’d seat us without a reservation. The name caught my eye, as did their photography, but we had no idea what to expect. “Incredible experience” is the only way I can describe this place. They blew us away from the start. Everything from decor, to vibe, staff, entertainment, music, and (most importantly) food were perfect. There was even a fireworks show. All this on a random Monday night. We will be back.

Best customer service

My girlfriend and I had a dinner reservation on March 13th 2022, It was the best customer service we had on our whole stay in Cancun, the 2 waiters that I unfortunately forgot their names were amazing. We told them it was our anniversary and they surprise us with a cake and sparkles at the end of our dinner. The only reason why I don’t give 5 stars it’s because of the food, I ordered the Pad Thai and it wasn’t the best also the portion was a bit too small, apart from that everything was perfect.

Fun Authentic Vibe Excellent Food!

We ate at Funky Geisha on a Friday night with no reservation around 9:15 or so and got seated right away. The ambiance was amazing! We were seated at a table by the water and near a table on a platform in which people were able to sit on cushions to eat for the authentic Oriental experience. We had regular chairs, but it was fun being around those tables. We started out by ordering the Namaste Mocktail which was delicious and another cocktail. While our drinks did not light up, tables nearby had drinks served with neon lights flickering underneath them. For those that want to celebrate a birthday there, women dressed in all white swing by swinging sparklers around the table. On top of that, we got to experience a unique Taiko Drum Show, which was really cool! Oh, and cannot forget to mention the DJ was AWESOME! He played a really fun mix of music to give the restaurant that trendy vibe. For food, We ordered the Spicy Edamame and it was the best Edamame I have ever had by far! It had some sort of a teriyaki spicy sauce. We also ordered the Alaskan Fire roll and Spicy Tuna Roll. When the server brought out the Alaskan Fire roll, he lit the roll up with a flame to smoke the sauce on top. After our meal, we finished by ordering the Pitayah mix hookah which was really good! All in all, I would definitely go back and highly recommend it!

Great fusion food with an awesome ocean view

The restaurant is right by the water with beautiful sunset view. My family loved ever dish and were pleasantly surprised by the fusion flavor. If you are not big on salty food, you can try requesting light sauce. The staff was very attentive: cleaning out dirty plates and giving us more water without us asking We had fun talking to the staff as well. The biggest surprise was seeing the crocodile after the dinner.
