First came here back in 1989 with my mother and again returned this past year. The shrimp and steak were just as good as we remembered. I would definitely recommend.

Tried so very much to return to the El but for the life of me could not find the restaurant. I have such great memories of the cozy, Awesome food, we spent almost 2 hrs trying to get there. Unfortunately after all efforts we failed...to find the place and gave up and returned to the GR Caribe. If recent ratings and fond memories are consistent, I will once again try to return and enjoy the awesome fresh seafood at the El Pecascador.More
I first ate at El Pescador in 1982. What is now a pedestrian street had traffic in those days. It's in Cancun Centro or Cancun Viejo, the original town before the tourists really started coming. The place is tucked away on Tulipanes, the pedestrian street,...just off Avenida Tulum. An easy walk from the bus station or a quick cab ride from Zona Hotelera. The restaurant has a wide ranging menu specializing in seafood. In the years since my first meal at El Pescador, I've been back many, many times. I'll have to admit that in all those years, I've limited myself and probably should branch out, but I can't pass up the charcoal broiled lobster or shrimp. In either case, it's quite a stack of good food. Back in the early days when I was in my thirties and still able to eat mass quantities, I would also enjoy their sopa de mariscos. Incredible stuff! Since that first visit in '82, I've only stayed in Cancun four times, preferring the relative peace and quiet of Isla Mujeres. However, when we go through CUN on our way to Isla, we take the ADO bus from the airport to Centro and stroll over to El Pescador for lunch. Then we catch a cab to the ferry. Very inexpensive way to get to the ferry and it wouldn't be a complete trip without stopping at the restaurant. Other times we've taken the shuttle to the ferry and then come back over during our stay and eat at El Pescador. It's not fancy, but very well decorated and well laid out. We usually eat next to the front half wall and look out from the shade on the passing people, dogs and cats. There are a few tables outside and quite a large dining area inside. I can recommend it highly for a pleasant and flavorful lunch or dinner. Maybe we'll see you there!More
EL Pescador Seafood & Bar is a good restaurant to dine out with friends or family. This restaurant is located downtown, so you can take the local bus service. Late dining is great.
I have eaten numerous times at El Pescador and it's good and a very reasonable price. There are always chain restaurants to choose from, but do yourself a favor and go experience downtown Cancun and eat here!
The battered shrimp was amazing!! We went back twice because we couldn't get enough! Good prices, great food & great service!
I enjoyed the food here and ate here often. They offer a wide menu and the food was great. They know how to cook Fish and great eating here.
Lovely second floor setting over looking the square, the town and the sea. Great service, excellent price, excellent food! Had the small ceviche, it was huge! Had the fajitas and whole fried red snapper. Cooked perfect and fresh!
El Pescador was our favorite old downtown restaurant for 15 years - until it closed some 3 years ago. Now the lights are back on, to everyone,s benefit. Not certain the same owners are back; but my wife's grilled shrimp (with the house Pescador sauce...on the side) was superb. The same was true for my fish fillet with garlic sauce - both of which were accompanied by a wonderful leaf lettuce salad and unique garnished rice pilaf cup. Our initial concern was the empty restaurant (in contrast to the restaurant next door); but that was quickly offset by a the meal. We love the old downtown Cancun setting and restaurants. The fact that el Pescador is on a quaint side street just 100 yards from the concession stands and night life of Cancun's lively plaza park is an added plus. Welcome back, el Pescador.More
I went to this restaurant 17 years ago and since then it had shut down for a few years! It is now reopened and just as good. We had amazing food from seafood to chicken fajitas. If you are looking for spicy sauces for your...chips..look no further. We really enjoyed all the food! If you are looking for fancy desserts to finish your meal..not the place for you as they only serve ice cream.More
