Lu’um has become a must go to for my wife and I in Cancun.

Forgive me, but I must wax poetic about this restaurant. I ate here months ago and the experience has still stuck with me. The hospitality, the flavors, the service. The entire experience was incredible. Maybe it was the bottle of delicious local wine that I split with my partner, but by the end of the meal I just had to shake hands with the chef! A true artist. There were flavors I never knew existed, I'd always been curious how to tame the pungency of cricket, but they tackled it perfectly with something I could only assimilate to a Mediterranean twist on a tostada. If this is Cuban cuisine I really must visit Cuba. I can almost taste the mouth watering pork belly in red sauce when i revisit the memory.
If you're in town. Or got an airbnb close to the bus stations like we did, you truly cannot afford to miss a dining experience such as this. We wandered in by chance, went early, got lucky and had the restaurant to ourselves, our waiter was world class, a spirit guide on our trip to culinary excellence.
The dishes are made with a love that transcends taste.

It’s a small and cozy place owned by the chef and his wife who’s a sommelier, best combination ever! Great food and excellent selection of wines of course, they organize many dinners with special pairings by some of the best vineyards in Mexico and abroad but also other liqueurs such as mezcal, tequila and artisan beers.

Small restaurant in downtown Cancun, serving modern Mexican / fusion cusine. Food was amazing, service very friendly, and price half of what you’d pay in a similar restaurant in London.

Family owned restaurant, with very nice food and great service! Staff is helpful and create great atmosphere there. There were four of us at the dinner and all of us were very satisfied with the quality of food.

It was a great evening! Fresh and healthy food, very well presented. The waiters are very friendly (but in case you don’t speak Spanish it might be interesting:))
Also the wines are very good. It’s a small restaurant with a very nice atmosphere. I can heavily recommend you to spend an evening there.

After missing our flight to Tulum, we spent an extra night in Cancun. We weren't super familiar with where we were going and were essentially stranded. After walking around the area a bit, we eventually stumbled upon this Gem. The staff was extremely nice and courteous. First helping us to find a taxi which is what was our initial need, but we decided to stay for a drink which then turned into a bottle, a dinner, and a spectacular desert. Everything was prepared with great care, flavor and technique. We had the portobello flat bread, the octopus special, and the creme brûlée. All delicious. If you're visiting and want to experience the life of a local outside of the tourist mayhem, please make sure you stop by this amazing restaurant.

This was a lovely find for NYE dinner. They had a fixed menu for the evening which was not excepted but embraced. The food was unique and delicious. They service and family were wonderful. They had a dew small groups and were willing to go off menu to accommodate some needs. They also hosted a big group in the room next to us. It was a lovely evening. We finished the night with champagne and grapes.

We enjoyed a table outdoors, under the tree, as the day cooled down. The attentive server Eduardo was personable, knowledgeable about the food and wine, and provided excellent service. He made the experience special and took note that it was our anniversary and provided complimentary champagne- a nice gesture. It is a small family run place- with highly personalized attention to your needs. Menu is limited and innovative, We enjoyed trying and sharing foods from all the different categories- appetizer/salad, followed by pizzeta, then a delicious beef, then dessert. All was wonderful. Highly recommend this place and make reservations if its the weekend as there are only a few tables.

We had probably our best ever meal in Cancun - after coming here regularly for 10 years! Lu'um (means earth in Mayan) is high end dining with a nouveau creative mexican flair. A small menu - 4-5 starters, 2 entrees, a few flatbreads and 3 desserts - based on what is fresh and available. We shared 3 courses - an excellent spinach salad, grilled octopus and beef tenderloin. Each course was very good. We also shared a dessert which we liked but I enjoyed the earlier courses more. Our waiter - Eduardo was helpful, engaging and guided us thru the menu and there was great attention to detail in all aspects of the meal. Overall prices were reasonable - our 3 shared courses plus dessert and 3 glasses of wine was $75 with tip. Easy access by bus (R1 or R2) or taxi and Lu'um is on a street (Nader) with several other interesting restaurants. Highly recommended.

This was our last meal in Mexico before heading back to Washington DC. We could not have had a better experience. The food was great, so very tasty and originally presented; the dishes were creative. The chocolate mousse stood out as being the best we had in the whole of Mexico. The place is small and makes for a great intimate experience. The service and attention is impeccable. The place is clearly run with passion.

My husband and I were visiting Cancun and went to this restaurant for dinner on NYE. We absolutely loved it! The food was amazing and delicious. The service was great and the ambiance was welcoming and intimate. This place is 💯 recommended! Run, don't walk, to go check out Lu'um for the best tasting food and their impeccable service!

One of the ways this differs from the other nice restaurants is that it has a cozy intimate feel and the presentation of the food is well thought out. We also enjoyed our food very much. Ofcourse this is more on the fine dining side so if you want to fill your stomach pick another restaurant. But if you want a good value fine dining experience under the branches of a beautiful tree you should visit Luum. Very cheap for fine dining.
