We found this place because our Fodor's guidebook recommended Loncheria La Lomita, which was incorrectly marked for this restaurant's location. Still we decided to give it a try and we were not disappointed! We were tired of over-priced, forgettable tourist food in fancy environments. La Negrita is a few plastic tables in a tiny room with an even tinier kitchen... More

So glad we stopped here for lunch instead of the stretch of restaurants on the tourist stretch. Some of those are good too, but if you want to eat where locals eat, this is it. A golf cart vendor at our table and a hotel staff digging into the pork stew behind us... we couldn't be more pleased we found... More

Been to Isla Mujeres a few times and discovered this little place last year. We fell in love with the tacos as pastor and the frijoles al pastor. The food is really good and the restaurant is quaint. It doesn't open till around 6pm or 7pm, so we consider this to be a late night snack place. They do catering... More

We found this place while out walking one day and checked out the menu. It looked good and the owner was very friendly so decided to give it a try. We had garlic fish, nachos and quesadillas all of which were very good. We are always amazed at what wonderful meals can come out of such a small space.

New location across the street from the old one - nicer, brighter and cleaner. Manuel's lovely daughter whipped up some awesome quesadillas with chorizo, mushroom and cheese for 50 pesos. YUM!

You can have the greatest fish fillets here for 60 pesos. We should have written this review earlier. As we get closer to returning to Isla and looking forward to our favorite spots. We will report back soon on prices and menu - know it will be as terrific as every year!

On our last trip, it was so hot in the new location that Manuel set us up across the street for a fantastic dinner.

This is a local's favorite restaurant. We ate there because of the reviews we had read and even went back more than once. It is a tiny place and I didn't think we was ever going to find it because we kept being told it had shut down. When we told one local we had found it and loved it,... More

The place isn't much for the effite who can't stand eating local when they travel, but for those with even an ounce of adventure, and for those who actually want to experience good Mexican food, La Negrita is an IM must! Here, you will find huge portions! Here you will find mexican food three steps above the typical Yucatecan fare,... More
