We returned to Aventura Mexicana this past February and again were delighted with the offerings at Mayan Bistro, the hotel on the premises. Everything we sampled was superb; "chicken mignon", chicken breast, stuffed with bacon and goat cheese, topped with a roasted pineapple sauce: salmon florentine and an amazing spinach salad, adorned with candied pecans, bacon and pear slices. We... More

On a business trip and getting back late several nights in a row and we landed here two nights. The first night we had the crab tostadas as an appetizer to share between two people. Super yummy. We also shared a chicken Caesar salad, also delicious. First night we had a spinach/mushroom calzone which honestly we weren't fond of. The... More

This was our first dining experience in Playa after a long travel day... we ran across it while looking for another restaurant. We got full on chips and appetizers so ended up not ordering the main entrees we had intended. We had ceviche which was good (although as the trip went on, we had it several more times at other... My husband, son, and I ate breakfast at the Mayan Bistro 5 or 6 times and we had one dinner. Excellent service and delicious food. Lovely garden atmosphere.

Visited this restaurant as part of a group of 14 for dinner. Good setting and efficient service. Everyone appeared to enjoy their cocktail/ drink which were quickly made and delivered. We had two vegetarians in the group and they had no problem choosing a meal. I had the chicken mole as I had not tried it before. The chicken was... More

We read the reviews and were excited to go to this restaurant. However the overall experience was very disappointing, especially for such a highly rated restaurant. The crab tostadas were made with fake crab and iceberg lettuce. The guacamole was unimaginative and definitely one of the worst we've had in the 10 days we've been in Mexico this year. The... More

Dear TGJerry I am so sorry to hear of your experience with us. As noted in hundreds of reviews our guests tend to enjoy our food and service. Of course we all have our off days but that is no excuse to have a guest leave less than fully satisfied with their dining experience. I am addressing your points with... More

One of our favorites! It is actually associated with the hotel and we love the hidden courtyard on the backside of the restaurant. Fish steamed in banana leaves with many choices of sauces is delicious. They always include a gratis appetizer - one of the trade marks of the better restaurants.

It's a small restaurant annex to a hotel. We sat at a table near the pool. The restaurant was empty so the service was good. I ate a taco that was very good. Prices average. Good option to eat at Playa.

We had two very good fish entrees prepared tikin-xic and empapelado styles. We were told the fish, which was firm and meaty, was sea bass. Our server was very helpful with food allergy issues. There should be a warning there are cats roaming around the restaurant, as one of our party is severely allergic to cats. Luckily they kept their... More

We have been coming to PDC for 5 years and always visit the Mayan Bistro. Tucked into a hotel, you may not expect good food - but you'd be wrong. we have enjoyed a variety of dishes here and are never disappointed. Ask for a table in the courtyard where the atmosphere is quiet and peaceful. I'm glad to report... More
