Taste was ok but nothing special. It was curry with vegetables and some skeleton of dug. Price is to high for nonsense like this.

This is a family restaurant, and it almost feels like someone's home. Not that it's cluttered, in fact it feels very airy and spacious. We were the only people there for lunch, so I guess that also made it feel like we were eating at...someone's home. I thought the food was good. The chicken stew which was a curry-like dish with a delicious cinnamon flavor was very good. The vegetable soup was pretty typical and the noodle dish with vegetables was bland. But if you are on Don Khone, this seems like a good restaurant to try. They made a real effort for us -- changing the set menu we were to have to accommodate our food likes/dislikes. And after we ordered something they didn't have, they ran out to a nearby store to get it for us. After Vietnam, Laotian food seemed less distinct or flavorful. I can't fully judge as we weren't in Laos for more than 5 days or so. So the food was fine, the restaurant is very pleasant, and if you are expecting a home-style meal you will not be disappointed. They are located very close to the old French Railway bridge.More
We had lunch there while on a day of cycling (coming from Don Det). My dish was just poor, tasted like they used mainly ketchup in the sauce. My wife's dish was ok, nothing more. Within an hour after eating there, had to run to...the bathroom. Felt better the rest of the day, but later that night had food poisoning. Can't know for sure, but odds are it's from the food thereMore
The dinner we had was great, the waiter was really nice, I would definitely recommend if you're on Don Khon.
Food on Don Khon will not win culinary awards, but in our experience it was safe and tasty enough. No horror stories, so much as a sense of possibilities lost. But Fleur du Mekong was a pleasant surprise. Located close to the bridge to Don...Det, the Fleur has made a garden out of its street frontage and that opposite. The food highlight was the Duck Curry, featuring a thick slab of bird and a potato and carrot curry. The fresh pork spring roll was also well prepared. The iced coffee was too light in flavour, and the pineapple shake fine but just so. We had 3 other dinners on-island and the duck curry won hands-down.More
Let's imagine you are French, traveling or living in Asia for quite a long time, and you kind of miss your beloved French food & drinks, especially the little Pastis at the apéro, while playing a pétanque game with your friends in the Summer... Let's...also imagine you're now in Don Khone, Laos... Well, if you're traveling with friends, you can have your sunny and warm apéro with friends, drinking pastis Duval in Fleur du Mékong restaurant. And though it might be a bit dramatic, the road can also be a great petanque field... if you have your pétanque balls with you. More seriously, Fleur du Mékong doesn't offer only pastis Duval (though it's a great deal !), it also offers a prompt and smiling service, in a clean and peaceful venue. The food is average, but ok and at reasonable prices. So a good option in all cases.More
We were impressed by the effort this resto has gone to make it look welcoming, with the flower canopy over the road. Not riverside, but lovely setting all the same. Staff were charming & the food was delicious, this was our favourite resto on chilled...out Don Khon & the one we would recommend to other travellers.More
We chose their specialty, the spiced duck curry, the duck looked like a re-heated leftover, we were sick all night, no doubt it was the duck.
We stopped at this restaurant on our way back from the Falls as it looked quite inviting. we had some fresh spring rolls, Laap Kai and the Duck curry. Though the spring rolls did not look too "fresh" anymore, the other 2 dishes largely compensated...this. The Duck curry is excellent! Service was adequate and swift. Recommended.More
We had some fried rice and some curry. Both was ok but nothing really special. Location is nice. Staff and service are friendly and fast
