We love The George and we love the people that run it. To serve the food they do and with the style they do is remarkable given the diverse audience they have to please. The George is about VERY good food and well chosen wines...More

I ate at The George three times in the two weeks I stayed in Alstonefield. Compared to the very mediocre food I have eaten in pubs while being in the UK this visit, it was a delight to eat such good food in a charming,...More

No matter the standard of the food, I fail to see how such a nasty person such as the one who runs this restaurant/pub expects customers to be okay with being addressed in such a short manner. It totally ruined the experience and null and...More

The George is a beautiful venue, we recommend our holiday guests to go for special occasions, but sadly rarely go ourselves. The menu is too limited if there is more than one vegetarian in the party, and that makes it not worth the premium pricing.

Our party of seven seniors having reserved some months earlier were required to dine at 6:30 (8:30 was too late for us) and order in advance. No real problem but would be better otherwise. Starters of soufflé & scallops were overpriced at £12 approx and...More

We had the same experience and there was nowhere to enjoy our drink after our afternoon walk as they use all inside space for dining!!!!..How can they call this a pub????? I gave them a low rating too.

We serve chips as an accompanying dish. Children's portions - we offer small portions of the fish and chips and sausage with mash or chips. Some other dishes can be adjusted too. On a Sunday we offer a small roast beef.
