Steak dinner with mushroom sides especially good. Baked potato a must, best I've had in a while.. Salad bar was fresh and amazing assorted selection choices. Don't fill on the soups as the dinner portions are huge.

The food at Smuggler's is usually very good, but the salad and soup bar are the best in the city. I go for the salad bar and the meal is generally for takeout. I love salad and good soup and love going to Smugglers

Very accommodating service, even in a busy atmosphere. Probably not the best place for a quiet romantic dinner, as they are quite popular in Calgary and the chatting surrounds you, but if you are going for generous portions of nicely prepared food, this is a great spot. My steak was perfect. My partner's chicken was juicy and nicely seasoned. Sides... More

Weather at the time in Calgary was a little cool so what better to warm me up then getting some soup and Smuggler's has a great selection of soup. Take you pick in choosing the Steak Soup, The Portuguese Bean Soup or the Broccoli soup or mix and match. When you order a meal the soup and salad is included... More

Hadn't been to Smugglers in ages but decided to take my FIL there for his birthday. It was great - I had the Chicken Oscar - it was very tasty - the asparagus were a bit on the small side, but otherwise delicious. DH and MIL had prime rib which they both enjoyed very much, FIL had a steak which... More

Smugglers is still one of the best dining deals in Calgary. Great food and service. Best Prime Rib in the region.

My wife and I have enjoyed Smugglers for it's food, unique atmosphere, and consistently excellent service for over 30 years. It has become a favourite place for our kids to celebrate family birthday dinners and other special occasions. We love the salad bar, the soups, the steaks and of course the Prime Rib - nobody does it better!

We were here for a family event. Even though reservations had been made sell ahead to time, we were scattered around at different tables. The service was fine, nothing outstanding though. Many of us had the prime rib and all who had it said it was not great. It lacked flavour and was a bit tough, no matter how it... More

Went for Easter Sunday brunch, first time for brunch but many years of dinners there. Seated promptly, waitress was a few minutes before taking drink orders which were promptly filled. Breakfast items looked good but limited selection. Eggs Benedict was good, roast beef as well. Omelette bar looked nice but was too busy. Ham was excellent but the bacon looked... More

Description
Smuggler's Inn originally began in 1967 as Bar X Steakhouse, an American company. The current owner, Frank Krowicki, bought out his partners and went to work developing a brand new concept to Calgary. His vision included a mix of casual, late night fine dining and live piano bar. Over the years, the building expanded around Smuggler's Inn, with the addition of Winelite dining room on the west side, and Backstreet lounge and dining room on the north side. As the dining scene in Calgary began to change, Frank too saw a need to change and adapt. The first endeavour was the conversion of Backstreet lounge to Open Sesame in 2000. Open Sesame has been serving fresh, Pan Asian cuisine to happy customers ever since. The conversion of Backstreet dining room to Bolero was complete in 2007. As Calgary's first Brazilian style steakhouse, Bolero continues to satisfy meat lovers with its unique and interactive style of dining. Our latest addition is Tango Bistro, on the west side of the building, which once was Winelite dining room. At Tango Bistro, we bring together delicious, hand crafted small plates and fantastic wine to create a casual atmosphere for all to enjoy. In May 2013, Smuggler's Inn celebrated 40 years of serving mouth-watering Alberta prime rib and steaks alongside many original items, which have made us famous around the world. Four restaurants under one roof keeps us busy, but we wouldn't have it any other way. And the rest, as they say, is history!
