This spot has been here for many years as my BF dads used to work here peeling potatoes when he was in school many years back. There is something to be said about any business that can endure all of the challenges and still run strong. I think it is due to the constant great meals put out. Thanks Shady... More

Stopped in and had the 2 piece halibut and chips for lunch. 6 minute ticket time and the food came out with a light batter and cooked very well. I am not a fish and chip aficionado but it was enjoyable for lunch and better then many others I have tried in the past. Small little location with lots of... More

This is not a fancy eatery - no linen, cloth napkins. It has been in business for over 60 years. I grew up in Kelowna so used to go to this place regularly. Since I moved away, I cannot go as often but make a point of going whenever I visit Kelowna. My last visits were on 9/14/2016 for lunch... More

This place doesn't look like much but has the best fish and chips in Kelowna. Great staff, decent prices but the fish and chips are simply fantastic. You can dine in but...I always eat outside or at home.

This is a wonderful little , literally, piece of Kelowna. Been in place for many decades ... there's lots of places to get fish and chips, but only one place in town to get 'Fish 'n Chips' and that's here. The Princess had never been, and had a hankering, so I said let's go ... Always fresh, always tasty, eat... More

Been going th rhe Shady Rest since 1950 and my family oribably before that, take out is a must. Having it wrapped in newspaper and taking home to smother with malt vinegar is the true exoerience, had many meals of fish and chips in Britian, they were always soggy and ichy, always saud back home, the Shafy Rest us Best!

This place has been here since I was a kid, and it doesn't feel like it's changed at all! That's a good thing. A bit on the pricey side (when compared to other fish and chip restaurants) but I find the quality\presentation to be worth it.

This rather very basic eatery has been in business for some 60+ years and every time I go to Kelowna I make a special point of going to the Shady Rest to have their halibut fish and chips and sometimes halibut w prawns and chips. They simply for me serve and have been serving for all these years the best... More

Had family visiting from out of town. This is their go to for fish and chips. Tried to order on Canada Day but not open so did it a couple of days ago. Called in order and ate it at home. Did find the coating a bit heavier and crunchier than in past but was still good. A little light... More

Both times I went, the fish (first visit cod, second visit halibut) was over battered and overcooked, which took away any flavour. It's too bad, because the atmosphere is bang on for this type of restaurant.
