It's our last meal in Canada. From the outside, this restaurant is attractive. Inside, we were less impressed. This an airport restaurant - service needs to be swift and attentive. We got anything but that. Our order was taken, but the burger arrived without requested cheese and lettuce that had definitely seen better days. It shouldn't have blackened edges. Nobody... More

The area was pretty calm and the food as reasonable for an airport. We had appreciated not being rushed to eat until it came to paying the bill. My friend and I wanted to sort out splitting the bill and the waitress just started going on about tipping before we had time to do anything. Don't get me wrong, tipping's... More

My aunt brought me here after a long flight and while I just wanted green tea to settle my jet-lagged stomach, I'm lucky she ordered a salmon burger for me for later. My aunt had a a very delectable steak, which she let me try, while my cousin had the pasta which she said was also quite good. Service was... More

Two areas to dine, one more formal, and other more for business travelers and guests who desired a glass of wine or drink. We ordered fish and chips to get our vacation started. Excellent food. The service was perfect, the server was busy but keep his peripheral vision on us for our needs. My wife and split the order of... More

We decided to have dinner here after being told there were no full service restaurants airside, so ordered a kids pasta ($7.99), Thai curry ($16), burger and fries ($14) and Linguine ($17). All tasted fine, with no real complaints. Beers were from $4.50 and a happy hour of cheaper snack meals and drinks were available between 4-6pm After around 15... More

Notification explaining about lack of fully serviced eatery places after passport control, so chose to eat here. Seated quickly, requested to change from a booth to a table, although this was accommodated they did not seem happy. The server was very abrupt, despite trying to have a little joke and laugh with her, she was still abrupt. Food came quickly... More

Have Carson for your server. He provided some of the best service I've experienced in 3.5 weeks in Canada - and that's saying something. The seafood tacos are really tasty, 'seafood' = 'salmon' but none the worse for that in my view. A glass of local sauvignon blanc went really well with them. A great pit-stop when you're early for... Very rude personnel. The sign says they close at 9pm. We arrived at exactly 8:39pm and were told they were closed and to go to White Spot or The Fairmont. I asked why the sign says 9 and was told a BS story that it's the way their liquor license is set up. I said we only wanted to eat... More

We ate here with our daughter and son-in-law as we waited for our flight back to Scotland. It was a nice end to our visit; the waitress was very friendly and helped us with our order. The food was tasty and set us up for the long trip home (better than airline food!). Not expensive and we all saw it... More

I also tried a couple of Hey Day local beers. Not bad. A little clovey. It's hard when comparing to Sam Adams to think any other beer is good but, it was worth the try.

Staying in Commercial Drive

Neighbourhood Profile
Commercial Drive
Commercial Drive, also called "The Drive," comprises of twelve sauntering blocks of modest and unfussy counter-culture. Straddling the line between sophisticated and unadorned, it is favoured by students, artists, writers, designers, and start-ups, and suffused throughout with a healthy off-beat counter-culture. The kind of neighbourhood which well-springs thought-revolutions and has the odd bit of self-aware graffiti, Commercial Drive has resisted gentrification in favor of continuing to build a thriving den of affordable multiculturalism. Once known as Vancouver's "Little Italy," it has also been the immigration point for Guatemalans, Hondurans, and Portuguese to the city. The resulting hodgepodge makes for poetry readings in espresso cafes, social debates in early-open bakeries, and eco-activism posters pinned up in the many multi-ethnic markets in the area. Commercial Drive is where you go to feel like a local, and if you have them, bring the kids – The Drive has a number of bookshops, toy stores, and attractions to get them involved too.
